How the fuck can we have a decent chance of moving forward when it takes 17 days to get a test back?!

I did a drive through and tested late Sunday Morning and got the results the next day in the afternoon, negative.

lockdownbreakdown · 02/07/2020 23:08

Mine took 6 days from a drive through. My colleague waited three weeks!!!!

sunniest · 02/07/2020 23:12

I did a drive through test yesterday at 6.30pm and got my result at 10.05am today.

Mumratheevergiving · 02/07/2020 23:13

Sashagabadon - I've had 6 tests now. All back within 24 hours.
Do you work in a sector where they routinely test or that is high contact or did you have continuing symptoms so repeated testing? Your comment has just made me wonder how much of the testing is being conducted on the same people perhaps because of work?

Thisismytimetoshine · 02/07/2020 23:14

Why would anyone have 6 tests? Did you have symptoms all 6 times?

candycane222 · 02/07/2020 23:22

I think frontline health and care have them regularly, which makes sense to me.

Lindy2 · 02/07/2020 23:38

DH did a drive through test on Monday (requested to be tested by the Zoe symptom tracker).

Booked his test first thing in the morning. At the test centre for 8.30am. Results at 8pm. Negative. A 12 hour turnaround which I think is pretty impressive.

TheNemesisOfLame · 02/07/2020 23:42

Did a drive through Monday evening - results back by Tuesday morning 12 hour turn around.
This was in the South East

Owwlie · 02/07/2020 23:44

I’d agree that your experience isn’t typical OP. I’m in the midlands, ordered 4 home tests late on June 29th, delivered midday the next day, posted back within an hour and then had the (negative) results back in 24 hours. Pretty quick considering they had to be sent out and posted back as well.

MarcelineMissouri · 02/07/2020 23:50

I had my test at 1:30pm and got my results back at 18:00 the next day. This was via a drive through centre.

NCTDN · 03/07/2020 08:25

I had the test at 11am yesterday (drive thru) and got the results at 8pm. 9 hour turnaround - v impressed!

Yes weekly tests every Tuesday but i post them off myself via priority postboxes and ring each time to give them my details and the test bar code ( in the pack)

Nhs related. I don't have symptoms and always negative result ( so far)
ILoveAnOwl · 03/07/2020 17:10

Mine was back within 12 hours, my son's was back in 18 hours. Drive through tests.

sashagabadon · 03/07/2020 17:16

I think testing is pretty good now.
A couple of weeks ago i took my daughter for a drive test centre as she had a sore throat. Went on line at 2pm to book, got appt for 3pm that day. Test took maybe 10 mins with a bit of faff ringing the army guys through the car window etc but fine.
She got her result back by 4pm next day.

AutumnNymph · 03/07/2020 21:46

I had my tests done at a drive through at 11 am today and got the results back at 7 pm - was quite impressed,

Mumratheevergiving · 03/07/2020 22:23

sashagabadon thanks for clarifying. Glad to hear you are being regularly tested, seems sensible in an NHS role & I hope your tests continue to be negative.

welshweasel · 03/07/2020 22:26

I do weekly tests as part of the vaccine trial. I send them on a Wednesday morning and seem to get a result Thursday afternoon/evening. I’m pretty impressed!

gingganggooleywotsit · 03/07/2020 22:35

I had one this morning at a drive in centre and got the results an hour ago. Not too bad!

bathorshower · 03/07/2020 22:45

DH had to have one before a scheduled medical procedure. Interestingly, there's a drive through centre near us, but he was asked to be tested at hospital. It's a big teaching/research hospital, so we wonder if they have their own labs to turn them round quickly. We were told we'd hear within 24 hours if the test was positive; I can only assume it wasn't as the procedure went ahead.
