For those with children back at school, what are schools doing about uniform? Are they still wearing ties?
Thanks

Secondary here. School usually very strict on uniform, but after a parent questionnaire have gone with PE top and any sensible bottoms

No uniform. It’s a prep school so a massive change for my DC who is very happy about being able to wear his favourite football tops etc.

Looks like the school uniform shops are really going to struggle keeping in business - I must admit I hadn't thought of that.

Hopefully this means a move away from expensive and uncomfortable uniforms. Kids will notice those who don’t have money anyway, it doesn’t take rocket science to work it out, and they’ll get bored showing off designer kit when it gets trashed from being washed everyday after a few weeks. If it was my lot, they’d be in jeans or shorts and t-shirts or sundresses that I could shove in the wash easily. I had eight kids in school uniform at one point, no way would I have space for 40+ outfits for school alone. They each had three sets max and even then, we had a wardrobe for boys and one for girls just crammed full of school gear.

My daughter's primary school are not wearing uniform and said they won't be wearing it again until after October half term at the earliest.

Ours will be back 1/2 a day each week for 4 weeks. School have asked that they wear uniform. They’re usually very strict but have said that there will be some leniency if the kids have outgrown things.

Full uniform at my school, but we're allowing trainers if no school shoes.

Full uniform at DD's school but they have asked pupils wear trainers instead of school shoes.

No uniform for my primary school DC. Despite what the government said yesterday, we have no idea what school will be like in September and whether they will be wearing uniform then or how often they will be able to go, so I don't know whether to buy new uniform or not.

Uniform if possible, it’s primary so polo neck T-shirt, jumper etc. However if they have grown out of uniform just send them in something they can do pe in as they aren’t changing. My year six daughter ended up going back to school in my trainers as she had grown so much and had been living in flip flops! She also wears leggings and hoodies as her uniform doesn’t even touch her!

Primary has said no uniform and clean clothes everyday. Secondary said PE kit - none of mine have been I the correct years to go back. Primary has offered other year groups 4 days before the Summer holiday up to a max of 10 children per yr group.

Rainyrain · 20/06/2020 10:05

No uniform for ours (primary), clean set of clothes each day and sensible shoes because there’s lots of outside play

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 20/06/2020 10:28

Our school has said no uniforms, just dress clean tidy and respectfully.
So jeans and hoodies it is for Dd.
