For those with children back at school, what are schools doing about uniform? Are they still wearing ties?
Thanks

We said we didn't mind what they wore as long as it was clean each day but virtually all
of those back in are wearing uniform.

peppapigisscottish · 16/06/2020 19:33

Our school have said no uniform, clean clothes daily, jeans are OK and that clothes must be suitable for school - which I take as being no excessively short skirts and low cut tops.

Primary School have asked for uniform but 'won't penalise for children growing over lockdown' so DS has been wearing trainers. He has been wearing a tie though.

UncomfortableSilence · 16/06/2020 19:35

Uniform
There is no need for anything other than normal personal hygiene and washing of clothes following a day in a school. Uniform that cannot be machine washed should be avoided.
You will want to think about leeway for any child who has grown out of any parts of their uniform since March but whose parents cannot currently replace it.

That's from Gov.Uk, my school is saying normal uniform except ties and blazers.

UncomfortableSilence · 16/06/2020 19:35

Sorry that should have been in bold.

EsmeeMerlin · 16/06/2020 19:36

Our do not require uniform because they want a fresh pair of clothes on every day and on pe days they wear their pe kit. Really glad because I did not buy school shorts for this year and ds school shoes are on their way out so he can wear his normal shorts and trainers.

As it is only 17 children are in from year one, reception start next week but I doubt it will be many more and his school do not yet have a year 6 so rules are very relaxed.

pjmask · 16/06/2020 20:38

No uniform at my DD school. I'm hoping this, like the WFH thing, will prove how pointless it is

Parker231 · 16/06/2020 20:41

The schools near me have said no school uniform but fresh clothes each day.

RainbowBrite11 · 16/06/2020 20:43

No uniform. anything just clean everyday

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 16/06/2020 20:44

Year 10 is back tomorrow.
School have asked that they wear uniform if it still fits them,. Send then in with a note if not. They are only back one day per week so plenty of time to wash it. They don't wear ties and blazers anyway.

dementedpixie · 16/06/2020 20:46

Our secondary says no tie or blazer

diked · 16/06/2020 20:46

our local primary is normal clothes as well.

acocadochocolate · 16/06/2020 20:46

Comprehensive school governor - no uniform because kids are supposed to turn up in freshly laundered clothes.

FlyingLoo · 16/06/2020 20:46

Primary school, uniform to b worn but no mention of it having to b clean on everyday

PerspicaciaTick · 16/06/2020 20:47

DDs school are non uniform for the moment. DSs school are wearing their usual uniform without the blazer.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 16/06/2020 20:49

Uniform twice a week and own clothes or PE kit the rest of the time at my DC’s primary. Trainers are fine but clothes need to be clean on each day.

Deelish75 · 16/06/2020 20:51

School want children in clean clothes each day. They've made uniform optional, even the teachers are in jeans.

Comefromaway · 16/06/2020 20:54

Ds’s secondary school have said casual clothes that can be washed every day or PE kit. The teachers too are in casual clothes.

Uhoh2020 · 16/06/2020 20:59

Ours can be own clothes, uniform or a mix of both. As long as its clean on every morning it doesnt matter

Buckingham1988 · 16/06/2020 21:10

Ours is non uniform because we have to put them in a different outfit every day. They also have to be wearing suitable clothing for pe as not changing.

Pipandmum · 16/06/2020 21:12

PE kit or mufti. Last period of the day is PE so they must be dressed for that.

Moonflower12 · 16/06/2020 21:42

My school where I work- full uniform but needs to be clean every day. We have a uniform shop on site ( independent)
My DD, primary, her own clothes but must be clean every day.

ritzbiscuits · 16/06/2020 22:45

We're in uniform, but trainers requested rather than shoes. We've chosen not to wear a tie and you can't wash it easily every day.

unchienandalusia · 17/06/2020 00:57

Pe kit. Cleaned every day. No blazers or whatnot (prep school)
