As Boris said he is sure most people would understand DC reasons for travelling across the country, let’s have a quick poll.
Yes, I understand his reasons.
No.

(Responsible) parents up and down the country had to have the conservation early on as to what the plan was should both fall ill simultaneously.

Most will have resorted to frozen meals and wall to wall telly watching. Peppa Pig on repeat. It's not rocket science.

CeibaTree · 24/05/2020 19:41

People have been dying alone and scared as their families have been following the rules, then this twat does what he likes effectively sticking his middle finger up at the entire nation. I really really want to know what he has on Boris that Boris is letting him run the country.

Well, I understand the worry when one of you becomes ill, because I felt that when my dh became unwell with cv symptoms at the start of lockdown.

However I absolutely do not understand or agree with his subsequent actions and absolutely believe that his actions went against the guidance. I also don’t believe his motivations and Johnson’s assertions that any loving parent would do the same is clearly nonsense - thousands maybe millions of us did the exact opposite in the same situation and stayed at home.

But I have a Facebook friend who just posted their support and understanding and lots of people piling in and agreeing!!! Couldn't believe it

Those citing Kinnock

He did not knowingly or suspect he and his family had Covid when he visited his parents. He took chairs and sat 2 meters away in their garden, said Happy Birthday and dropped off supplies. He didn't stay for two weeks or ask his family to look after his child. He is not the PMs chief adviser asking something of us that he is not willing to do himself.

I looked after an 8 month old on my own for a few hours a day while DH went back to work following a total hip replacement. If I could suck it up and find a way to sodding well cope then Cummings and his wife should've done too. I am so bloody angry about the hypocrisy.

JellyFishSquish · 24/05/2020 20:09

No.

I did not write the rules, but I followed them. Someone who helped write the rules decided the rules did not apply to them, because they are special.

Not like us dumb fuckers.

And then the PM says, "it's all fine, Cummings is simply being an exemplary parent" and in doing so pisses on us and tells us it is raining.

Even during normal life without Covid - I think it’s pretty standard to still look after your own DC when you’re ill. In extreme circumstances you might ask for help from a relative or friend nearby - but who in their right fucking mind travels right across the country for over 5 hours for childcare ‘just incase’ you’re too ill to look after your child?? It’s so bonkers and definitely not normal or understandable...
Was this a regular thing for this family? If one of them got the shits after a dodgy takeaway did the other immediately drive across the country to drop the DCs off at Grandma and Grandad’s Confused

Just shocked that he hasn't just admitted he bent the rules slightly, apologised and moved on to be honest. I wouldn't expect to be sacked (or anyone to care) if I did similar so not really expecting him to be sacked or resign.
@Tfoot75 I agree. As if there isn’t a mid point between saying someone should resign and saying what they did was perfectly fine and even commendable. His and the PMs reaction to this has been ridiculous.

Absolute hypocritical despicable liars

How can they be toppled? Surely they can’t stay !!!!

Crunchymum · 24/05/2020 20:34

We are humans, we break rules and I fully accept that.

It's how the smug little fucker has dealt with it that I have a problem with. Same with BoJo and that lot. Show some contrition, show that you understand and appreciate why people are angry, be apologetic, be humble.
