As Boris said he is sure most people would understand DC reasons for travelling across the country, let’s have a quick poll.
Yes, I understand his reasons.
No.

No.

(Also, please email Graham Brady, and tell us what he says in reply).

CottonSock · 24/05/2020 18:32

Noooooo

wincy · 24/05/2020 18:32

No. They have a big house and close family in London so no excuses.

Qasd · 24/05/2020 18:33

No

Tiramisuiloveyou · 24/05/2020 18:34

No and have already emailed my MP earlier today. Not had a reply yet.

I thought Bojo was extremely rude, ignorant and dismissive today (more so than usual).

MinesaPinot · 24/05/2020 18:34

No, I'm appalled but sadly not surprised. One rule for them and one for us. DC definitely knows where the bodies are buried. I'm with Stamer.

isitfridayyet1 · 24/05/2020 18:36

Noooo

roarfeckingroar · 24/05/2020 18:36

I love Dom. He's way too valuable to Boris for him to be sacked.

Acdmm41 · 24/05/2020 18:36

I understand his reasons although don't necessarily agree with them.

However, I do think the issue should be dealt with separately to the coronavirus briefings and government time. A grown man made a decision that people didn't agree with, it should not be what the government spend 48 hours dealing with. It is done and can't be changed. I'm more interested in when we are getting the track and trace app and why it's been delayed, not who has broken the rules and why.

By all means call the government to account for what we need to get out of this situation but focusing on this isn't helping anyone.

I feel for any parent who is worried about how they are going to care for their child whilst they (parent) is ill, but he had other options.

twinnywinny14 · 24/05/2020 18:39

@Acdmm41 but this impacts all of us. If people now decide to use their initiative and decide what’s best for their family and that causes a rise in infection rate then we are all affected by this

PaneerOfEvil · 24/05/2020 18:39

Sadly Acdmm41 by not dealing with it straight away (ie sacking him) they’ve let the story dominate.

DullPortraits · 24/05/2020 18:40

No but its a great distraction for the government -last 2 daily press conferences show that

PissOffStayAtHomeDogMum · 24/05/2020 18:41

I absolutely understand why he did it, and would have done the same.

However, it isn't my job to make up and impose ridiculous rules on other people.

So on that basis, he should have been told to FOTTFSOF.

teaandajammydodger · 24/05/2020 18:41

No

PonderTweek · 24/05/2020 18:41

Nope.

SquishySquirmy · 24/05/2020 18:42

No.

I can understand why he wanted to.
I cannot understand why he needed to.

I was in his position (my family who live 250miles away even had a self contained annex on their property). I don't have any family nearby and certainly not the connections and resources he had.
I didn't travel, because it would have been completely against the rules as well as deeply irresponsible.

We had Covid. We have 3 young kids. We sucked it up and didn’t take our virus to our relatives.

motherstongue · 24/05/2020 18:44

No, no and thrice no

RealLifeHotWaterBottle · 24/05/2020 18:44

No.

He had family and friends nearby. If they had both become incapacitated and if local family AND friends couldnt help, his sister could have collected the child.

Samcj02 · 24/05/2020 18:48

No!! Also think that BJ was extremely rude and dismissive today!

Simonfromharlow · 24/05/2020 18:49

Everyone defending him on the news etc seem to be overlooking the fact that if he was well enough to drive 250 miles he was well enough to look after a 4 year old. The more I read about this The angrier I get.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 24/05/2020 18:51

Nope

midwestsummer · 24/05/2020 18:53

No
The news for BJ and Cummings is that actually competent fathers can look after their dc.

Acdmm41 · 24/05/2020 18:53

TwinnyWinny I agree, but I don't think it is a good use of government time to get involved with individual infringements at this time, they need to be concentrating on so many other things.

This was one mans decision yet all of the nations media are focused on it, leaving other questions unanswered.
