Does anyone know when Nicola Sturgeon is due to update on the SG potential lockdown ease?

Everything I have seen just says next week (this week and was written last week). I'd be keen to watch but don't watch every day due to the timings.

I think it’s tomorrow

Crosshall24 · 18/05/2020 10:36

Read it was tomorrow too

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 10:36

Thank you. I'll tune in then.

I wonder if it will just follow same route as England / Boris style release ...

AhGoGo · 18/05/2020 11:03

@LoadsaBlusher

I think so, it’s just be worded slightly differently. I don’t really know how much different it can be? (Apart from the school issue... I have no idea what anyone is going to do about the school issue that makes enough people feel happy/safe)

LoadsaBlusher · 18/05/2020 11:20

Yes I was thinking Scottish schools will be 100% not reopening in June

I have resigned myself to the fact it will be August up here for schools

Everything else surely will be similar like the socially distanced walks etc

midnightstar66 · 18/05/2020 11:20

Tuesday

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 11:21

I expect that it will be similar schools aside.

If it would take 3 weeks for the schools to be ready for having children back it would only be for 3 weeks or so. Would hardly be worth it.

I think maybe they'll get p7's in in June for transition- that's a big maybe

user1487194234 · 18/05/2020 11:25

I thought she said last week that the schools were not going back before the summer

midnightstar66 · 18/05/2020 11:32

She said not in any sort of full time capacity

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 11:38

They also said they were in talks about returning earlier than August but I don't see that happening either if I'm completely honest.

OP posts:
Crosshall24 · 18/05/2020 11:39

I was hoping for p7s too for the transition period - even if it only for that
And S4/5/6 big year for exams

I could be reading to this too much and hoping for the best but all Astro football pitches at schools have now been closed ( they have been opened for the last 8 weeks)
Seems a bizarre thing to do unless they are considering bringing back schools in some way

Sally872 · 18/05/2020 11:42

Astro football pitches have been closed here (Central Scotland) since the first week as encouraging people to mix, I wouldn't read into it. Probably someone has complained about gatherings.

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 11:46

That seems strange all the astro pitches near us have been closed the entire time. I only know this because people have been breaking into them to use and it's been reported locally.

Tuesday supposedly. I'm not holding out for anything major though. Definitely not schools, apart from hopefully p7 for some transition time, and it would be nice if secondary leavers had the chance to go back and say a proper goodbye but maybe the moment for that has passed, I don't know.

midnightstar66 · 18/05/2020 11:49

P7 would make sense they are of an age they can follow rules and one year group in a school would be easy to manage. It would be nice for them to get some sort of transition. Teachers and SLT have been promised 3 weeks notice though so to try and get other classes in for any sort of learning seems pointless

Noworrieshere · 18/05/2020 11:49

The pitches at our school were locked the day the schools closed but people are climbing over the fences as usual. The police occasionally drive by but not often

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/05/2020 11:54

I teach in Scotland, and we have been told we definitely won't be back before summer. I'm in FE, but friends who teach in schools have been told the same.

LemonBreeland · 18/05/2020 11:55

I can see the sense in getting P7s into high school to meet their classes and teachers, and also get their timetable. It doesn't seem worth it for other pupils. Our high school started the new year timetable last week for S4/5/6. The new S2/3s will start as normal on 1st June.

midnightstar66 · 18/05/2020 12:03

Our S2 and 3 started their new timetable last week so they have more time to get familiar with it

midnightstar66 · 18/05/2020 12:05

I also work in schools and my sister does in a different council area. We are all still being told there are ongoing talks and that there is possibility for a very limited return, it's not all that likely but hasn't been officially ruled out altogether.

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 12:21

My DD moved up to S3 at the start of May - it's normally the last week in may they do this

I don't think the schools will be back til August and even then it might only be S1 + s4-6 . We are fortunate in that DDs school issues Chromebooks to all pupils and using Google classroom to issue and return work

LemonBreeland · 18/05/2020 12:27

We are also lucky that our LA gives all high school pupils iPads so no excuse to not be able to do the work. Although I'm sure there are still pupils who will be doing nothing, and all of the work to try and narrow the attainment gap will be lost.
