My 30yr old hospital physio friend had it (& viral load assumed high) & went straight back to work - she was sent home again by her boss to sleep for a couple more days & has been fine since.

Goodness, this is refreshing! It's easy to read the stats and see it's not as deadly as made out to be, but reading actual stories is nice.

Good friend ICU doctor, tested positive only symptom loss of smell. Had a week off work and went back after a week. Didn't feel in the slightest bit ill.

My brother, loss of smell and taste, felt a bit rough for a couple days but no need to be in bed or resting. Absolutely fine

My aunt, early 70's, cough and a bit breathless for about 4 days. Totally fine but had to cancel her personal trainer for a week!

Good friend, felt like she was wearing a tight bra, headache for about 3 days, felt a bit rough but again, not in bed and able to do everything. Lasted a couple of weeks but certainly nothing more than just being a bit off colour

Brother in law, high temp and cough, not slim! Absolutely fine.

I saw this young woman on the TV. She was put into a medical coma as she was very ill with coronavirus and woke up on her 16th birthday. Bet she had the best, socially distanced, party ever!

The interesting thing about her TV interview, which included the doctor in the team that treated her, is that she is asthmatic (mild) and the paediatric team treating her do not count mild asthma as an underlying illness. The doctor said she was just very unlucky.

This is a great thread! My 94 year old mum was tested on Tuesday and it came back positive yesterday. I didn’t see this thread and had started another one looking for positive stories and some lovely person signposted me here.

My mum’s symptoms are so far mild but it’s still relatively early days so GP has said the coming few days will be crucial. All the comments on here and the other thread I started are really helping.

She’s in a local authority care home in Edinburgh and the staff are truly amazing - always have been, but their sheer dedication is really shining through right now.

I think care home staff have been bloody amazing in all this.

One of my best friends and her partner had it (her DP is a hospital doctor and ward was full of covid). Both mid 30s and fairly healthy but my friend does have a few minor health issues. They literally just had coughs and felt a bit hot and knackered. Fine in a week or so.

Two members of my DH’s family also had it and felt unwell but fine within 10 days - both quite overweight and 50 ish.

Lots of other friends/colleagues/neighbours have most likely had it and recovered after anything from no symptoms to a few days in bed feeling crap like the flu. Don’t get me wrong, they felt pretty grim - especially slightly older ones - but all recovered fine at home.

I live in London and there’s been loads in my area which is why I am confident they all had covid even if not all tested. I think it’s possible (but unlikely) that we have had it too as both DC had high temps with no other symptoms and me and DH had a weird very long lasting respiratory bug for weeks after. But no real cough so it’s probably just wishful thinking!!!

Dhs uncle. Mid 70s and whilst being treated in hospital for cancer tested positive. Slight raised temp, some loss of appetite, otherwise fine and is now discharged and recovering (from the cancer op) at home.

My SIL - 60, ex heavy smoker, by her own admission exercise-phobic - was diagnosed with Covid 19 in April,: she was in bed for about five days, on the sofa for a week. She was retested this week and given the all clear. Apart from a few headaches, she's up and about as normal.

Her DH, who must have had it, felt off colour for a week but has been fine for ages. Her DC never even had a cough - all self-isolating in the same house, obviously.

We have a friend whose very grandad was in hospital with it. He recovered and was able to meet newborn great grand daughter over video call

Here's another one - just spoke to a friend whose elderly mum is in a care home just up the road from us. Apparently she tested positive for CV19 three weeks ago and hasn't displayed a single symptom since; you wouldn't know she's had it. I asked if there'd been any more serious cases (tactful!) and he said not as far as he knew.

Not exactly covid but there's a story on BBC re a woman who was on end of life care due to sepsis but she has recovered and now gone home to be reunited with her husband they have been married 72 years and he thought he'd never see her again, there's a picture of them hugging

The loss of smell thing is being put on the NHS symptom list.
I know that's not totally good news - it makes eating and drinking more boring! - but apparently it is a really common symptom in healthy females under 40 who have been otherwise asymptomatic. And anecdotally, I know so many people around 45 - 55 (albeit not tested) who have been mystified by suddenly losing their sense of smell in March... And just found out from an acquaintance tested in Germany that she tested positive having been asymptomatic other than loss of sense of smell.
So, unless you're a sommelier, good news I think that so many people are basically asymptomatic other than 1 thing which is no more than a bit of an annoyance.

I suspect DM (80s) may have had it back in Feb. She was in hospital (in an early hotspot region) for 10 days for an issue that was awkward to identify, then picked up a stubborn chest infection. She was quite frail on discharge so stayed at another family member's for a few more weeks, during which time she had a DVT scare. She was back home shortly before lockdown, but it was a good month or so before she was really back on form.

Between hospital food and smoking for over 60 years, she wouldn't have noticed any loss of taste or sense of smell
There are a few plausible circumstances to make me seriously consider the possibility though.

Local hospital ( not uk) discharged a 108 year old very recently! That cheered me up.
