So here we go. Early start 6 of us in a big vehicle on our way to enjoy Cornwall. Can anyone recommend anywhere nice?

We’ll be stopping at many petrol stations en route to handle the nozzle but beware of Michelle she’s got a bit of a cough. Nothing to worry about though.

Not sure why it is taken as a joke- it is in the press today that we can all go to the beach now and countryside!

Do people think this is all tongue in cheek? Confused

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:38

In the Times..

"People in England are allowed to travel to parks and beaches and can swim and sunbathe. They are not allowed to travel to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland for leisure activities, however; there will be different rules there"

Just make sure you don't wash your hands too much as you need germs to build up your immune system.

(Literally saw some say recently that you don't need to wash your hands before touching a premature baby because sterile environments mean they never build up an immune system. Yes, but washing your hands is hardly sterilising them is it, ya fanny.)

Where would we stay orange in the ditches on the sides of the motorway? Everything as far as I can see is firmly closed.

I am sure we can improvise though, it was 3c last night so maybe an artic tent and some thermal pants will do the trick, and there is nothing wrong with ditches, they are underrated in my view.

MoaningMinniee · 11/05/2020 07:41

Don't forget to bring your dogs, preferably without their leads, so that you can take them for a lovely walk through the fields with all the cute little lambs!

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:42

I'm not sure where people will stay, sorry maybe depends how far you are.

ememem84 · 11/05/2020 07:42

Here In Jersey pubs cafes and restaurants are opening up today. Large shops are opening (non essentials) and we’re allowed out now for 6 hours a day. Social distancing still advised. And meeting no more than 5 people in our homes.

We are a population of 120k. We have around 300 cases and 25 deaths. So far. We’ve been locked down since the beginning of April. I personally think it’s too early to start releasing lockdown. And am anticipating more cases and deaths.

There is talk of opening our airport soon to allow U.K. tourists in.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:44

Islands are a problem I think as a contained population. Think that does sound risky. We have a relative on Guernsey also not sure what i happening there.

CoronaMoaner · 11/05/2020 07:44

Dominic Raab is on breakfast news right now saying you can drive wherever you like for any reason! As long as if you cross a boarder you adhere to the rules of that area.
He actually said if you want to drive to a place that is fond to you, you can.

Taddda · 11/05/2020 07:44

Bloody hell, Adele's looking good isn't she.

Isn't she just! Although she does look like that woman out of American Horror Story...!

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:45

If watersports are allowed I wonder if marinas will open now.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/05/2020 07:45

Orangeblossom
Of course the thread is tongue in cheek. It is also a sad reflection on what is happening around the country in many people’s heads. That’s the whole point....

LEELULUMPKIN · 11/05/2020 07:45

Careful OP you might find yourself the contents of Pasty.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:45

Adele looks really different. I don't recognise her.

hauntedvagina · 11/05/2020 07:47

Have a lovely, lovely time. Be sure to lick the Tamar bridge for luck on your way in.

I'd also suggest that as you as you arrive you head straight to the supermarket and do a big shop, you want to get ahead of the tourists and make sure your cupboards are full.

Make sure you shake hands with all the locals too, they love that.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:47

Maybe best get used to the reality then, as it is happening it seems

ilovemydogandMrObama · 11/05/2020 07:53

On my way - may stop to visit Gordon Ramsay to get some tips as far as how to get along with Cornish neighbours!

Have bicycles for all us grockles - plan to ride them on country lanes as slowly as possible.

Rowgtfc72 · 11/05/2020 07:57

Supposed to be heading down to Cornwall on friday for a week. Maybe we should still go?

Fortunately our campsite has already refunded our money so we dont have to.
We live on the east coast so can sit on my own beach and watch it get invaded by visitors.

Dowser · 11/05/2020 07:59

Anyone know where I can get a gluten free scone and dairy free clotted cream...don’t worry about the jam..I’ll be fine with that.
I’ll be singing George Michaels ‘Freedom ‘ as I drive along the little lanes.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:59

I'm hoping we can take the little sailing boat out now that watersports are permitted.

Wint3randSummer · 11/05/2020 08:00

All beach car parks are closed so unless you want to walk many miles with your boat I’d check it’s worth your trip first.

Taddda · 11/05/2020 08:01

Have an ask about where's good to buy a Holiday home while your there- they'll be happy to give you some pointers on where's good to go!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 11/05/2020 08:03

Make sure you stop at Costa for a coffee.

ToastedHaMSandwich · 11/05/2020 08:03

We’ve just been on our caravan WhatsApp group and 6 of us planning on travelling in convoy. We haven’t had time to plan a shop will stock up when we get there.

frumpety · 11/05/2020 08:04
