Panicking about new symptoms

I’m not sure whether to call 111 or not. For the past three nights I’ve had deep muscle pain in my hip and legs. So much it wakes me at night and with paracetamol it’s goes away. During the day it’s not so bad if I rest.
I’ve started feeling not quite right. A bit out of it, slightly dizzy, more tired than usual and today my chest feels a bit heavy.
Using the 111 online symptom checker it says due to the pain I should see a doctor but I can’t can I?
Shall I assume it’s coronavirus or speak to 111?
I’m so anxious about this which probably isn’t helping at all.
Should I isolate from DH and the children?

I'd start w phoning your gp. Without a cough/fever 111 wont want to know.

Coronavirus is a weird beast. What you have doesn't sound a lot like it but I don't tell you it isnt because it starts off in different ways in different people.

Isolating from your family on a "maybe" is a personal decision. Would your dh be supportive? I would (and did) bit then it turned out I had it, which obviously colours my response.

Realitea · 09/05/2020 11:35

I phoned them but opted for the non corona line which was helpful. They said a gp will phone back today and just wait and see what else develops over the next three days with regards to coronavirus
I just feel like I have a cold starting but the muscle pain is definitely the biggest problem. I guess I just have to wait and see. I wish I hadn’t googled as it says muscle pain is an indicator or a bad outcome 😯

Muscle pain has been reported as a symptom of Covid19 if that's what's worrying you.

Love the picture 😂
Yes they said on the 111 service it is a symptom so I should watch and wait
It’s made me very anxious

I don't see why they have to be so explicit with the diarrhoea picture, a picture of a toilet would have been sufficient Hmm

Northernsoullover · 09/05/2020 12:02

My friend didn't have a fever and tested positive. She's a nurse and they wouldn't test her and were very unreceptive to her self isolating. When she lost her sense of taste they relented.

ChipotleBlessing · 09/05/2020 12:02

Did anyone take you through the symptoms of DVT? Does your leg feel warm to the touch? You are describing possibly symptoms of DVT/pulmonary embolism.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 09/05/2020 12:04

Surely a temperature is the most convincing?

Gunpowder · 09/05/2020 12:15

Covid-19 is mild for the huge majority of people and I think given you don’t have the obvious symptoms I wouldn’t self isolate from your family yet. I do think you do need to speak to a doctor today though in case it’s something more serious than Covid as chipotle mentions.

Realitea · 09/05/2020 12:35

Thanks everyone. There are so many things it could be. It doesn’t feel hot and it’s not red around the area. It’s worse at night (probably an 8/10 on the pain scale) and wakes me up. It’s almost like a cramp. Hopefully they’ll call back soon.

I think the picture above is by ‘Chris the simpsons artist’ who does some weird art work very similar

Have you been doing anything different in the day, prior to this like walking more?

Realitea · 09/05/2020 12:44

I’ve been doing a lot less really. My job which stopped in March was really active and the knee pain got a lot worse just after my last day of work. Couldn’t bend down or go up and down stairs easily. Then about four days ago the hip pain started, gradually in the groin area then really bad outer hip/lower back pain that night. I’ve been resting since then but each night the pain comes back. Paracetamol works but I want to know what it is.
Maybe because I’ve slept so long I’ve just felt a bit out of it and have a bit of congestion but not loads.

The only other thing I can think of is that I got bitten by a tick a couple of weeks ago and had antibiotics but had to stop after a week because I developed a nasty rash all over my neck. Really strange set of circumstances!

Did they tell you what symptoms to look out for in regards to Lyme Disease?

curlyfries · 09/05/2020 13:05

I tested positive 10 days ago, had cramp in my calf’s so bad I could hardly get downstairs, and never had it before. It felt like I was always on the verge of getting cramp, if I stretched or moved my legs a certain way.

Realitea · 09/05/2020 13:53

@Ernieshere no.. I was just told to call back if I felt worse. I’ve now spoken to a doctor and they’re suspecting Lyme disease. Have to have a blood test next week and another for inflammatory markers.
How do blood tests work with social distancing Confused
If I get any more symptoms that are more ‘coronavirusy’ I need to call back.

@curlyfries that does sound similar, I’ve heard a lot of people get it in the legs. I suppose it’s too soon to tell for me. Did you get much worse? How are you feeling now?

"I don't see why they have to be so explicit with the diarrhoea picture, a picture of a toilet would have been sufficient"

Really, in the middle of a pandemic and as the economy is about to collapse, the thing that bothers you is a picture of arse spraying mayhem?

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/05/2020 14:22

@CrowdedHouseinQuarantine I've now had all the symptoms on that sheet (except the vomiting and that was a bloody close thing). The cough didn't start til day 6 and the temperature was the least noticeable- a couple of spikes on my worst days (I've felt roasting hot and got lots of chills and shivering but temp stayed in normal range regardless). That was one if the strangest things about it- feeling so, so ill and no temperature.

curlyfries · 09/05/2020 14:26

I think I’m over the worst but unable to go back to work as I’m so exhausted. It’s been Pretty awful, I thought it would be mild for me as I was quite fit prior to this. I’ve spent most of the ten days in bed. My main symptoms have been persistent cough, shivering then sweaty, absolutely no sense of smell or taste, breathlessness, not enough that you’d go to hospital but like you e been for a run.
Tha cramp in legs lasted for the first few days.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/05/2020 14:31

@Realitea it is still possible to get blood tests, and if they think you have Lymes disease then you really must. My friend had bloods taken for a non COVID condition the other day and there was some sort of drive through arrangement at the hospital. There will be some sort of set up local to you.

weepingwillow22 · 09/05/2020 14:36

Do you have a pulse oximeter to check your oxygen saturation? You can get them on amazon prime and it may be worthwhile as there have been reports that some people with covid have no obvious breathing issues despite very low levels of oxygen.

I would definitely get checked out. The loss of taste and smell is a common symptom.

Bol87 · 09/05/2020 14:42

Do you get heyfever? Sounds daft but heyfever makes me feel incredibly groggy & spaced out! I’ve had a few days recently of feeling awful but I know it’s just my typical heyfever symptoms! I do get other symptoms such as itchy nose, itchy eyes, sinus congestion, headache & constantly sneezing (which is great during this pandemic 🤪).

Obviously, this doesn’t account for the pain but potentially congestion & being spaced out! The pollen is sky high at the mo it seems! Probably doesn’t help I go walking in woods on a daily basis which I never normally do!

Hope all is ok! I had a blood test last week.. was normal. My doctors send you to the blood lab in the hospital. I was given a time to go, given a mask when I arrived. The nurses were in PPE. Took my blood, results back next day. You don’t have to socially distance if it’s a medical thing! Saw my GP last week and obviously she needed to do my obs etc!

Quartz2208 · 09/05/2020 14:49

Do you have the rash - at the moment it really does sound like lyme disease rather than coronavirus because you had a tick bite

Ernieshere · 09/05/2020 15:10

High temperature
Feeling hot and shivery
Headaches
Muscle and joint pain
Tiredness and loss of energy

Those are some of the symptoms of Lyme Disease,

How many days of the antibiotics did you have to leave?

Realitea · 09/05/2020 16:39

I was given a 3 week course and only took it for a week. I got a weird spotty rash nowhere near the bite (which didn’t cause a bulls eye rash but is still a pink spot) but with that along with feeling unwell They said to stop taking them and call back if I felt worse.

The pains getting more frequent now and I’m having to take paracetamol every four hours. Trying to miss one or two in the day as it’s worse at night.

I do have an oximetre @weepingwillow22
haven't tried it yet 😬
