FliesandPies · 09/05/2020 01:21

Working on his exit plan? Probably a good idea..

Dotty02 · 09/05/2020 01:28

@fliesand pies what would u do different?

Dotty02 · 09/05/2020 01:46

Oh she must be having a cobra meeting!

scunnymum · 09/05/2020 01:53

I have no doubt that boris has been really poorly but the government only wheel him out when they need to give out the really big news like easing some restrictions on lockdown due on sunday... you wont see him until then

Didkdt · 09/05/2020 01:57

Get a grip flies 3 pages of comments about Boris and Keir and the only thing you can do is leap in at me.
At the risk of dragging up silliness according to your view Biris deliberately made himself ill to misuse NHS resources because....
But Keir is obvs a hero because he didn't want to spend too long long filming his clap because his daughter shouldn't have-- couldn't wait too long out in the street on her own. As the Belfast Respiratology team said "I know where my kids are do you" no he didn't they had to look for their Lara calling to her like a puppy because they didn't want her to feel like she had to stay in the garden like mist children do in the clap

JudyCoolibar · 09/05/2020 06:20

Didkdt dont worry about it u cant argue with stupid

Oh, the irony.

twinnywinny14 · 09/05/2020 06:54

I understand that he isn’t probably working v hard behind the scenes esp working out plans etc for Sunday’s announcement (is that going to be live by the way or prerecorded some days before?) but he needs to be seen by the public. The government knew that confidence was dipping when he was ill and now he still hardly been seen. This whole save the announcement for Sunday was annoying but fine until he open his big mouth on weds implying some changes on Mon. The British public in their infinite wisdom took this to mean lockdown is over on Monday and are doing as they please all weekend. He should’ve done the announcement sooner and offered clarity rather than leaving people to make their own assumptions (and probably getting it wrong!)

Biscuit0110 · 09/05/2020 06:59

I like Boris, but we do need him to step now, regardless of the new baby and all the rest, otherwise it might be time to let someone else take over. We need a leader, one that is totally up to the job in very difficult times.

He needs to deliver tomorrow evening, and then be present now every day until we are out of this mess.

Biscuit0110 · 09/05/2020 07:00

*step up

HMSSophie · 09/05/2020 07:16

Let someone else take over? Earlier someone said "reshuffle the government". Do you have any idea what it takes, how long it takes, and how distracting it is,!to elect a new leader of the Tory party? Jesus wept.

Johnson fought hard and dirty to get where he is. He should at least try and look competent. I couldn't give a monkeys that he's had another child. If Churchill had had a baby during Ww2 do you honestly think he'd have been taking any kind of paternity leave?

Johnson is all bluff and bluster, jaunty Jingoism, and self-first. The idea that he'd make a good job of a crisis is breathtakingly naieve. As has been shown.

FloggingMoll · 09/05/2020 07:19

I'll admit from the start that I'm not a fan of Boris. I liked him as a presenter of HIGNFY but not as leader of the government. He's not a strong enough politician to carry this crisis. If he's too poorly to lead then he should hand the reins to someone else, though they're all equally unpalatable. If he's on paternity leave he should say that.

Unfortunately, because of his position, he doesn't get the right to live a quiet life recuperating with his new baby. It's shit, but that's the deal when you're the political leader of a country.

Muh2020 · 09/05/2020 07:24

Never believed he was THAT ill. If he was even sick at all.
He's a lazy, dishonest bastard.
The Tory party are a shower of fascist pricks.

Mlou32 · 09/05/2020 07:36

Oh Muh2020 stop embarrassing yourself.

PigletJohn · 09/05/2020 07:40

I'm not really convinced by the answers that say, in different words "He's not doing his job because he's not up to it, he's been ill, he's got another baby, he likes time off"

If he's not up to the job, we need someone who is.

slartibarti · 09/05/2020 08:04

Starmer's expression was fascinating,
It may be fascinating but it never seems to change. He always looks slightly pained as if he's trying not to wince.

Muh2020 · 09/05/2020 08:11

No Mlou32
Or is that you, Boris?
Please wake up and see what's happening in front of your eyes.

TheRealMrsKeanuReeves · 09/05/2020 08:42

Helping with the new baby 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 yeah. Right.

DateandTime · 09/05/2020 08:56

Just guessing but I imagine there's quite a lot to do before tomorrow's announcement. He's (hopefully) not just going to rock up and talk off the cuff, he surely must be meeting with all sorts of experts to assess and agree what's actually going to be said?

Plus he's just had a new baby and he must still be feeling rough. It takes a week or two before you feel back no normal after "just" the flu.

JudyCoolibar · 09/05/2020 09:03

He always looks slightly pained as if he's trying not to wince

That's probably exactly what he was doing at PMQ in reaction to the way Johnson was exposing his weaknesses.

Opendraw · 09/05/2020 09:17

What suprised me the most was FM Nicola saying on Wednesday ( I think) that she and other devolved nations hadn’t spoken or were yet privy to Bojos exit plan. They went on to have a call on the Thursday about it.
I was thinking they were all in constant contact about how to move forward as a nation but clearly not. Matt Hancock has turned out to be an odious man and can’t handle the pressure at all. Bojo should be more visible and he could do with not rambling when he does show up.

stairway · 09/05/2020 09:28

It the unlikely event he is spending all this time couing over his latest progeny, I would say this is not the time to be playing with babies all day. He should put the country before his paternal desires. The baby will be perfectly content with nanny and mummy at the moment.

FliesandPies · 09/05/2020 09:57

Get a grip flies 3 pages of comments about Boris and Keir and the only thing you can do is leap in at me

Because the other comments aren't trying to spread twisted discredited lies of the type you profess to hate

At the risk of dragging up silliness according to your view Biris deliberately made himself ill to misuse NHS resources because..

Another lie - unless you want to show me where I said that? I didn't. I certainly said that he flouted his Gov's own rules and made himself a target for the virus.

what would u do different?

What do you mean Dotty? What would I do differently if I was Boris?? Well if i'm too ill to do the job I would hand over to the designated person.

If i'm not too ill I would get my face out there on TV every day, make myself the face of information to keep the message clearer and try to inspire people with a bit of hope with my famously cheery cheeky persona.

But i'm not Boris and the real Boris is trying to hide from the dreadful consequences of HIS Gov's incompetence (and they are letting him because he's a total liability anyway)

ImaPinkToothbrush · 09/05/2020 10:35

Nicola Sturgeon has lead every one of her daily briefings, every day since the start.

Yes Johnson has been I'll. but he wasn't even putting in a full effort before that. And since he was ill, why haven't we had consistent leadership from Raab, Hancock or Gove? None of them have managed more than a few briefings in a row.

As for Priti Patel - she is the Home Secretary FFs. Yet we've seen more of junior ministers than we have of her.

What the hell is going on? Where is the leadership?
