He seems to have disappeared again!

Either still recovering or busy planning Phase 2.

Id rather he was doing productive work than being wheeled out to the daily briefing to satisfy idiots who think he's not working unless he's in front of a camera.

And I didn't vote for him, and I know the government has made mistakes, but some of the criticism being levelled is bonkers now.

Half the population want to lynch him for not starting lockdown sooner, and the other half want to lynch him because lockdown was never really necessary.

Half the population think he's akin to a murderer for even considering the economy alongside health, and the other half think the vulnerable should self-isolate indefinitely so the rest of us can get to work.

Two calls from friends today - one saying the government is irresponsibly under-reporting to keep the numbers down, the other saying they're inflating the figures by including any death with covid present.

I'm more sick of the speculation than anything else.

WhiteChocTwix · 08/05/2020 21:22

I feel sad and disappointed in him today. Today was massively auspicious, 75 years since Victory in Europe, the communication should have been managed much better. Even if he'd popped up yesterday and said "another 3 weeks" then popped up again Sunday and said "here are some adjustments". If he's too ill for the job maybe we need an official reshuffle?

carly2803 · 08/05/2020 21:26

where on earth is chris whitty at too?

haven't seen him for a while,?

Whatsthis1515 · 08/05/2020 21:27

Where do I want him to be? I want him to be leading the country through a pandemic and being a strong but reassuring leader. Not treating us like idiots, keeping everything secret about plans to allow us some hope that our livelihoods are not to be destroyed. That's where I want him to be.

And honestly if you asked a month ago, I supported him

OP posts:
rawlikesushi · 08/05/2020 21:31

Isn't that what he's doing on Sunday?

I'd rather they didn't announce anything until there was some degree of certainty.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/05/2020 21:32

I would imagine meetings are going on for hours ahead of tomorrow’s press conference

And knowing quite a few people who have been very ill (but not in icu) they have all been unwell for weeks (and still are) colleagues sent home as they are not well enough to be at work (it’s quite a stressful environment)

TerrapinStation · 08/05/2020 21:35

If he ever actually was ill

Did a braindead idiot klaxon go off?

rawlikesushi · 08/05/2020 21:35

"where on earth is chris whitty at too?"

He's quite active on Twitter if you want to know what he's up to.

carly2803 · 08/05/2020 22:04

@rawlikesushi - not for a couple of days? unless im on the wrong profile?

#stalkeriamNot lol

rawlikesushi · 08/05/2020 22:12

I haven't been on for a couple of days so you may be right. The plot thickens. Unless he's just....really busy?

Baker1985 · 08/05/2020 22:17

Still recovering he will be speaking on Sunday tho.

TimeWastingButFun · 08/05/2020 22:30

Never mind where he is now, where was he when the Tories needed to put time and money into the NHS, instead of inching it closer to privatisation and making so many shortcuts that we couldn't cope with this situation we're now in? It's so stable-doorish that it almost doesn't matter where he is now. As my 12 year old said, quite succinctly, when he was ill 'I don't wish him to die just because he's a shit Prime Minister'.

FliesandPies · 08/05/2020 22:54

Id rather he was doing productive work than being wheeled out to the daily briefing to satisfy idiots who think he's not working unless he's in front of a camera

But surely that was why he got the job as PM - to be wheeled out and sprinkle his stardust around, use his great powers of oratory, make people feel good with his humour and derring-do attitude.

Productive work? Not his department.

Yellowshirt · 08/05/2020 23:08

He should of announced something on Thursday when the 3 week lock down period ended.
why are the Scottish and Welsh announcing stuff ahead of him. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Bol87 · 08/05/2020 23:13

Wasn’t he in the House of Commons on Thursday?

The first thing I noticed in the one daily briefing he’s done is hie out of breath he was from just walking into the room! He got better as he stood still but undoubtedly not fully recovered!

Dotty02 · 08/05/2020 23:15

He's at home waiting for Sunday, to be fair what do people want him to do? Nobody can compare and say such and such would of done better? Nobody had been through this Hmm

WhiteChocTwix · 08/05/2020 23:15

@yellowshirt agree with you 100%.

The queen's address tonight was excellent imo.

Didkdt · 08/05/2020 23:25

Lockdown isn't in 3 week cycles
At the risk of being accused of being a Tory Troll again

  1. Boris returned part time as PM although he's clearly working more hours than most consider full time. Boris was ill now I know the Drs and nurses who treated him aren't as sharp and savvy as the mumsnet conspiracy brigade but I do trust them when they say he was ill and he doesn't look right.
  2. if Boris has announced anything yesterday's he would have been accused of burying Lockdownloversgate
  3. Last night Boris was at the tomb of the unknown soldier showing his respect for the unknown soldier
  4. This morning he took time out to speak to an RAF serviceman from the Battle of Britain I'm not sure I've seen any tweets or public statements from Labour about the gratitude this country has for those who died in WW2. I've seen some hateful comments to Raab about his father from the left I'll say it again the nasty comments, the menace the name calling and swearing all seem to be coming from the Left. The shame of being Brirish and the ingratitude for those who fought and died for a free Europe come it seems from the left, and they do this apparently because the Tory voters are the nasty bigots who don't care.
AgileLass · 08/05/2020 23:34

I'm not sure I've seen any tweets or public statements from Labour about the gratitude this country has for those who died in WW2.

Really? Gosh you didn’t look very hard, did you - the official Labour Party twitter account has been tweeting all day about gratitude for those who sacrificed in WW2 Confused

So has Keir Starmer, and same goes for all the Labour MPs whose Twitter accounts I’ve just quickly checked.

Maybe you need to turn your Twitter machine off and on again? Hmm

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 08/05/2020 23:42

I know someone who saw him whilst she was on the Covid ward at St Thomas' Hospital.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 08/05/2020 23:43

sorry that should have said whilst she was nursing on the Covid ward

Didkdt · 08/05/2020 23:51

No agile I didn't look very hard but likewise they didn't push very hard

Samtsirch · 08/05/2020 23:51

Boris is where he’s always been.
Bit late to be asking the question.

Chillipeanuts · 08/05/2020 23:53

overnightangel

If he ever actually was ill”

Oh for goodness’ sake.

Didkdt · 08/05/2020 23:55

And actually just looked Keir not sir or saint still manages to politicize his gratitude on the front page of the Telegraph big 1 minute slow clap for him
