I think that hairdressers might be one of the last things to open. I really hope not but just can't see how it would be safe to open them as they will be coming in contact with different people for long periods...Hope I am wrong though as I need my hair doing

LaurieFairyCake · 06/05/2020 22:20

Hopefully soon

Look like a badger

Franticbutterfly · 06/05/2020 22:23

Bloody soon I hope. I look awful.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 06/05/2020 22:24

I don't think I've had mine cut since last October. It's kind of longish so not obvious but I do have a fringe that I'd been chopping off occasionally but it's not as good as my hairdresser does it - Ooh she does cut an amazing fringe! so I'd been leaving it for her. But it was feeling awful on the ends for ages - I tried to get in at the end of March just before lockdown but they were closing up. So I did a mumsnet cut today. First time ever! Stuck it in a high pony and hacked carefully pruned about 3 inches off the bottom. Ooh it does feel better! Looks ok too. I want to save the fringe though, for the expert. So, I've now cut my hair, the dog's. it's only my son who won't let me but I'm working on it Wink

My 2 year old is currently looking like Boris. I darent trim it myself. Im coping with ponytails. Fingers crossed for June.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2020 22:27

One of the last things to open I think. Lots of clients and very close contact for a prolonged period. Not great. Same as beauty salons.

I have said on another thread that I was pondering them doing a trim in the garden with masks I can wash my hair and style it after.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 06/05/2020 22:28

May 27th.

DaisylovesDonald · 06/05/2020 22:29

In a lot of the countries that are starting opening up hairdressers and barbers seem to open in the first phase so I think they’ll be near the start. I certainly hope it’s soon!! Way too many grays poking through for my liking....

GrumpyHoonMain · 06/05/2020 22:32

I think they could open if everyone wore face coverings / gloves and changed them between customers, while only allowing enough customers in to allow them to be 2m apart from other customers. My local beautician does this anyway as she was considered high risk for flu.

Greenpop21 · 06/05/2020 22:33

In Austria they are open in the 3rd week of relaxed lockdown I think. Small shops first, then larger shops and hairdressers. Masked though and distancing plus no coffee or mags. That’s fine by me.

Gobbolinocat · 06/05/2020 22:40

I can't understand the issue with hairdresser if limited customer, perhaps not hair wash, customer and HD wearing those visor masks. No magazines and barbers should open too. I can't see issue...

BlueBrian · 06/05/2020 23:09

My hairdresser sent a message to all her customers today, basically she's waiting for the go ahead from the National Hair & Beauty Federation, as yet she has no date for re-opening.

Our hairdressees have started a waitlist.

Cheeeeislifenow · 07/05/2020 01:26

On Ireland, it's July.

Cheeeeislifenow · 07/05/2020 01:26

On Ireland, it's July.

DramaAlpaca · 07/05/2020 03:04

Yes, 20th July in Ireland. I am on my hairdresser's waiting list already.

Bananasandorangessss · 07/05/2020 05:19

Soon I hope. I need my beautician too - my feet look like they could sand down a door

Whenwillthisbeover · 07/05/2020 05:25

July? July? Noooooooo

My appointment the Saturday before lockdown was cancelled, I had 7 weeks of regrowth then. I now look like a Cadbury’s caramel.

Peridot1 · 07/05/2020 05:26

Soon I hope but I think it will be a while.

I’m on wait list at my hairdressers.

I’m not so worried about the colour but I got extensions put in in January and I really want them taken out.

PoloNeckKnickers · 07/05/2020 06:30

My feet look like they could sand down a door 😂😂

I've bern slapping on the Flexitol and my feet are bearable although I'm glad it's not sandal weather. As for my hair, I'm hoping that mullets make a comeback.

Handbag101 · 07/05/2020 06:32

Desperate as well. Like a previous poster said, I also look like a badger.....

U2HasTheEdge · 07/05/2020 08:14

My teen boys are sporting man buns right now because their hair is too long. They have unfortunately inherited my super thick crazy fast growing hair, but their hair grows outwards.

My husband shaved my undercut for me (which I have to get rid of some of the thickness) but my fringe is hideous. It is sticking out at all angles and I made it worse when I tried to cut it. My hair needs thinning desperately.

I am desperate for hairdressers to open. I hope they open very soon. I think they will.

coronabeer23 · 07/05/2020 08:26

Soon I hope. They seem to be opening quite quickly in Europe so I think it will be quite soon. My hairdresser sent an email yesterday telling us the plans for when they do open which includes masks, not being allowed inside until they are ready for toy, plastic aprons etc, same person doing your whole appointment. Can’t wait.

onestepat · 07/05/2020 08:30

My grey hairs are out of control.
I had to step away from the bleach in Superdrug.
I dare not risk doing my own.
My apt was due the Friday of lockdown so it's now 3 months with roots

Here in France ours are opening in the first wave (no pun intended) from Monday. Mine rang me to offer me one of the first appointments as I had one booked on the first day of lockdown. Only cut and blow dry, wear masks, strict appointment times, single-use gowns etc. Will be interesting to see how it works.
