A neighbour got hers cut yesterday. No way she did it herself as it is short and perfect at the back. Mine hasn't been cut since December. Ds has hair to his shoulders but he wears it long anyway and it suits him. His sisters braid it sometimes but it's too silky and doesn't stay in. It was last cut in January and still looks good, it's just in his eyes now but I don't trust myself to cut it.

I'm a hairdresser and I won't be back to work until July. I'm being absolutely inundated with calls from people to see if I'll go to their house. These aren't even my regular clients, they are strangers.
I do understand that people are anxious to have their hair done but no one ever does from 6 inches of roots or a grown out fringe or whatever.
It seems like people are obsessed with getting us back to work and it's really unfair. I don't want to have to touch people at the minute.
At the best of times people don't consider us when they are sick. Clients come in to us with colds and flu, stomach bugs, chickenpox etc and think nothing of breathing their germs all over us.
So as far as I'm concerned I'm happy not to be allowed to open until July and I won't be doing anything at all before then.

Oh I really, really need mine redone. I haven’t had my highlights done since December as I then found out I was pregnant and didn’t want them done in the first trimester (multiple previous losses made me very wary), then lockdown 😱😱😱

My hair is thick and fast growing. The roots are terrible.

I totally agree with @PainintheholeSIL my OH is a hairdresser and we are really worried they will try to make him go back too soon. PPE is needed for the NHS, carehomes etc not for us. Opticians and dentists should need it next. We can not maintain anything like a 2mtr rule and would probably go out of business anyway with all the rules and extra costs. At least if we follow Ireland there maybe some degree of normality.

I’m going to have to get a box colour I think. I have foils with blonde/brown lights usually but my greys are showing badly at the front as my appointment of 11/4 was cancelled.

namechangedyetagain · 07/05/2020 17:21

The DC s hairdresser sent an email through saying that they're taking bookings from 1 June, but only 1 child in with a parent. So I've prioritised and booked ds in as he currently looks like a yeti.

Shotofvodka · 07/05/2020 17:22

I discovered Batiste with a hint of colour today and it is amazing! My grown out hi-lights looked shocking but this sprayed on the roots has made it look so much better

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2020 17:25

Soon I hope. I think a lot of hairdressers have started doing home visits now.

lilgreen · 07/05/2020 18:36

Mine is going to start with those who had appointments in March- me!Grin

lilgreen · 07/05/2020 18:37

@Bluntness100luntness they can’t visit homes though.

lilgreen · 07/05/2020 18:37

The National Hair and Beauty Federation (NHBF) has warned hairdressers and barbers that they should not be operating under any circumstances until the government gives them the green light.

In a letter to members urging them not to flout restrictions, the NHBF said: "This would be against the government's strict social distancing instructions which say you must stay at home apart from essential travel.

"We need to do all we can to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Also - please bear in mind that your insurance will probably not cover you if you normally work in a salon or barbershop."

A BBC article mentioned a woman going to an underground network of hairdressers 😂

Coronavirus: Barbers offering haircuts 'flouting law'

Barbers are offering haircuts despite coronavirus lockdown laws, BBC South East has found.

Legislation banning businesses from operating to stop the spread of the disease was brought in six weeks ago.
