Wetherspoons to open in June?

As you can see from my user name I love a drink, but pubs open that early? I was expecting much later and on twitter there's a very vocal industry leader who thinks all pubs by July 1st. I know our numbers are coming down but what will pubs opening do to increase that as we all forget social distancing after a few. Maybe it'll be table service only and very spaced out

How will the toilets operate? One in, one out?

Mirada · 29/04/2020 21:31

McAvennie.......please don't spread lies. He is not 'tapping the shareholders up for £141 million' I (I am one). The company may decide to do so (as companies are perfectly entitled to do, and shareholders will decide there response) - as of today they haven't.

I used to work in Wetherspoons. It was brilliant. Very clean and kitchens were spotless. Good bonuses as well. It’s always people who’ve never worked there or haven’t ever entered the place that bring it down. They were actually a very good employer but I bet you that posters will say I’m a plant or lying. It’s always the way when someone goes against the grain

There's another man on twitter, who is very vocal and firmly believes pubs will open July 1st. I'm baffled as I thought they'd be a breeding ground for the virus x

My grandad is 80 and loves spoons. Likes to take us there for lunch as it is cheap and the food in our local one is very nice

At night they all turn into hell holes, no one could people social distance unless they limited people going in

Whatever his name is sounds like an arrogant twat. I'm going to save my money for one the other local pubs open

Sparklingbrook · 29/04/2020 21:46

Urgh if I had the choice of going to a Spoons or not going to the pub at all I would take the latter.

SpiritEssence · 29/04/2020 21:56

Nope he wont be getting any money from me. The way hes treated hes staff is out of order

teqcar · 29/04/2020 21:56

They were actually a very good employer but I bet you that posters will say I’m a plant or lying.

Presumably you left before Coronavirus then.

I really like going Sunday morning for breakfast they do a really good eggs Benedict. Think it will be at least October before I’m there again.

TARSCOUT · 29/04/2020 22:06

Not a place I frequent however even if I did, I certainly wouldn't now. Got to have some sort of moral compass.

Every business will be making plans to reopen it will be remiss of them not to, you can make plans and you can change dates, do you not think clothes, electrical retailers aren't working on plans.

It doesn't mean they will reopen until authorised, but for pubs, they will have to completely restock brewery's will have to scale up ect. It is estimated pubs need 3 weeks notice to reopen.

KatherineJaneway · 30/04/2020 07:50

I have no idea how they would maintain social distancing especially after a few drinks. People can't even socially distance in the supermarket.

Students will go. There's a huge Wetherspoons right next door to my daughter's student accommodation.
