When it says x amount of cases in Wales, does that include North Wales as well as South Wales? Like Llandudno, Rhyl, etc? I know Cardiff has been hit quite bad.

OccasionalNachos · 21/04/2020 07:42

Yes, all of Wales.

kevintheorangecarrot · 21/04/2020 07:47

Thank you. I did think so but wanted to make sure.

Please dont come here if you have a second home..... I dont mean to sound rude. But my sister is a nurse In our local hospital on the coronavirusward, and more than half of the patients are not from the area but from away who came to their second homes as lockdown started

kevintheorangecarrot · 21/04/2020 08:54

@Donttellbut I live in Wales so not my second home but that's dreadful! What are people thinking?! FFS. I read somewhere that loads of people from London have gone to their second homes down in Devon. Angry

@kevintheorangecarrot are you not having a similar problem in your area. The police are trying to stop them entering over the bridges. But apparently they are talking on forums about how to sneak into north wales at night and to send their luggage by courier ahead of them... its infuriating northwaleslive.co.uk has a few stories on it

TheHarryFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/04/2020 11:12

Are you on Anglesey donttell? It’s just totally being whipped up by the local racists and Facebook vigilantes. It’s making me want to move when this is over and creating massive division in the community.

Fearofawelshplanet · 21/04/2020 11:15

Kevin - its southeast Wales thats been hit the worst ...

Troels · 21/04/2020 11:41

Not many cases up North and we need to keep it that way. We have huge number of elderly people living here. Most are retirees from England. We have lots of Nursing and residential homes too.
If lockdown is lifted and the holidaymakers flood in, the retirees won't stand a chance. Our hospials will be overflowing.

kingkuta · 21/04/2020 11:59

I'm completely baffled by this question. Do people living in south Wales not consider north Wales as Wales?

WalesStar · 21/04/2020 12:44

kingkuta- I was baffled as well. I live in Wales and everyone I know considers north and south to be Wales! 😂

user1493494961 · 21/04/2020 13:07

Another one baffled.

foamrolling · 21/04/2020 13:10

Another baffled one. I know they speak all funny up north (just joking, I prefer the gog accent) but we are still the same country.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 21/04/2020 13:14

This is a bit out of date, but I hope it helps, OP.

CeeJay81 · 21/04/2020 13:17

I live in Wales and find that an odd question too , even if it is almost impossible to get from north to south on public transport! I live in the forgotten about middle though.

circusintown · 21/04/2020 13:25

Wales is wales isn't it? Grin

Troels · 21/04/2020 14:09

No Wales isn't just Wales, well it is and isn't.
South is the capital and main focus, North is the forgotten Wales especailly money wise , always has been, even though they have opened a Government building near us, nothing much has changed.
Trying to travel north to south you really need to go into England and then south. That or country roads and haipin bends for hours on end. We tried it once when I was a teen. God I was so car sick.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 21/04/2020 14:45

I live in Wales and everyone I know considers north and south to be Wales!

Travelling from North to South you find Wales ends at Machynlleth Grin

Troels · 21/04/2020 14:57

Travelling from North to South you find Wales ends at Machynlleth
Grin thats as far as we got last summer. sad but true.

CeeJay81 · 21/04/2020 15:43

Justanotherposter and Troels that's where I am. Not a bad place to be for lockdown though 😁

Kirschcherry · 21/04/2020 16:37

I am in South Wales and it is bad here. People coming to second homes round here are idiots, yes we have nice beaches but the hospitals and health care in general was on its knees before this all began and it’s absolutely fucked now.

kevintheorangecarrot · 21/04/2020 18:15

@Kirschcherry I'm also in South Wales too and you're right, it is bad! Especially Cardiff area. Apparently Royal Glam is riddled with Covid and so many nurses and docs have caught it. Bad, bad situation.

I am on anglesey @TheHarryFormerlyKnownAsPrince we are not racist we love the tourist any other time they are always lovely, but at the moment they should not be coming here, nobody should be going anywhere as another posted we have a lot of vulnerable here on anglesey

BarbaraofSeville · 22/04/2020 06:57

even if it is almost impossible to get from north to south on public transport

Welsh comedian Ellis James did a thing about travelling on public transport between two places in North West Wales about 20-30 miles apart on some Radio 4 show a few months ago and it took about two days and involved changing at Crewe and maybe Wrexham and required an overnight stay. It could have been complicated by a mountain or two being in the way, but it sounds like he wasn't exaggerating.

But I don't understand the OP. Surely the stats for 'Wales' include the whole country of Wales, why wouldn't it?

MaidenMotherCrone · 22/04/2020 07:19

Don't you think North Wales is in Wales Op?

What about Mid Wales does that count as Wales?

I can give you a break down, by county, of the number of cases and/or deaths here in North Wales if you like.

Of course North Wales is Wales. There's an awful lot more to it than Llandudno and Rhyl too.

CottonSock · 22/04/2020 07:21

I think the hotspot is Newport.
