When it says x amount of cases in Wales, does that include North Wales as well as South Wales? Like Llandudno, Rhyl, etc? I know Cardiff has been hit quite bad.

This is like me asking to the stats for England include figures for outside London.

greyspottedgoose · 22/04/2020 07:28

Who mentions Rhyl over Conwy when describing North Wales? 🏰🙊 Of course we are included in the Wales figures

DanceWithYourBalloon · 22/04/2020 08:26

I am English but live in North Wales and have seen comments in the local new pages saying things like "I'm sick of hearing English accents in the supermarket, just go home" etc.
I have slight fear of being on the receiving end of someone like that if they hear my accent. 🙁
However people in my village have been nothing but nice if I've had to use the shop etc.

Maybe everyone should move o Powys?

Very low number of deaths there. Probably because there is no hospital

mamansnet · 22/04/2020 08:46

I think we've been quite lucky so far in North Wales, we haven't had the same infection/death rate as the south. Perhaps it's because we're less densely populated, I don't know.

That said, I was told recently that the three North Wales hospitals (YG, Glan Clwyd and Wrexham Maelor) have a total of about 30 intensive care beds between them. To cater for the entire population of North Wales, which is about 700,000.

So we really do need to be careful, especially given the older population that we have.

Beautiful place to be stuck in lockdown though!

I wonder why they don't bring some of them to bristol if it is bad in Newport? Apparently there are hardly any cases here! (I live here and know people working in the hospitals! )

I agree all the people heading to second homes in wales is terrible (I'm originally from wales and all my family still live there)

My father in mid-Wales considers his area free of CV insisting it's all in south Wales.. after all, he doesn't know anybody with it, and they don't know anybody that's had it.. sort of logic.. bless.
