Is your house inexplicably cleaner now?

We have been at home all day every day and haven't had our usual 4 hours of cleaning each week - but I'd say our house is definitely cleaner and tidied than before Confused

We're both still working full time, albeit from home, and we have fairly full on jobs so putting in our full hours. I would say my working hours are slightly longer as I don't need to rush to pick up DD sp tend to work a bit later.

Is anyone else noticing this?

No.

The opposite.

And I am WFH so don’t have time to do a quick once over every day. And the constant cooking, and forcing the two younger ones to just nap in the afternoon for the love of god so I can then attend to the online meetings without kids screaming and wailing in the background.

And the endless washing up.

And the arsing cats all wanting to be let in or let out or walking over my keyboard just when I get up to make sure the kids aren’t killing eachother...

No. My house is not cleaner.

devildeepbluesea · 13/04/2020 20:20

Sorry, I don't meant I disparage cleaners by that post. In fact I have been one, and take enormous pride in cleaning other people's houses. But my own? No fucking way.

I'm channelling my anxiety into decluttering cupboards and cleaning. My elderly neighbour lets us use her bin as she hardly produces any rubbish. Today I tackled the utility room which has cupboards full of craft materials. Took me 2 hours but looks so much better now.

Tomorrow I'm decluttering the playroom and filling a box with stuff for charity which can sit in my car boot until I can drop it off.

DCs have been earning pocket money for jobs eg putting washing away, hoovering with cordless hoover. They earn 50p a job (given in tokens we made as we have no cash).

DH has been furloughed and has jet washed the patio, laid decking, tidied the double garage which was a terrible mess and today, to my amazement, deep cleaned the spare room.

LaurieMarlow · 13/04/2020 20:22

Wow. I laughed so hard. Mine is a tip.

Two of us working from home, a five year old and a two year old. We’ve no time or energy and the kids are trashing the place daily.

Megan2018 · 13/04/2020 20:22

God no, it’s grim!
We really miss the cleaner, I have the clingiest cling on velcro baby weaning and DH doing silly hours. Nothing is getting done.
Only bonus is no unexpected (or expected) guests!

chickedeee · 13/04/2020 20:24

No untidy and needs a good clean!

Four people here, 2 adults and 15 &12 yr old.

I usually clean, currently seeing if anyone else suggests cleaning as we are all 'in this together'

Sadly no-one has noticed Sad

KingaRoo · 13/04/2020 20:25

Mine is a lot cleaner but I think that's because my usual cleaner isn't actually very good at cleaning so I notice the difference when I do it myself! I keep her on because she's a struggling single Mum. Still paying her by the way even though she's not coming, and really appreciate the time she saves me when she does come.

BreathlessCommotion · 13/04/2020 20:25

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

No it's more of a shit hole than usual.

Wannabangbang · 13/04/2020 20:25

At first yes, now not so as every time i clear up, kids get it wrecked again lol and also cba as no one coming round anymore so apart from keeping it a bit clean here and there i can't see the point tbh..

SoftSheen · 13/04/2020 20:26

No, no it's not... Grin

Moltenpink · 13/04/2020 20:27

Nope. Mud dragged through everywhere and DH has set up a putting range in the lounge Hmm

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 13/04/2020 20:28

Mine is gobsmackingly so!

I’m a childminder so usually working with small children in my house. Currently have my three at home but they’re older and super helpful. Dh is still working and does the food shop and we share the cooking.

Whichroomtovisit · 13/04/2020 20:32

Absolutely not Grin

Merename · 13/04/2020 20:35

Jesus no. Two tinies and no cleaner once a week who helped us keep it acceptable. Wow to the pp with a daily cleaner!

Imohsotired · 13/04/2020 20:37

Two toddlers and no cleaner for over a month.... No! I still dislike cleaning as much as ever.

doadeer · 13/04/2020 20:38

I spend more time cleaning but with a toddler it definitely isn't cleaner 🙈

testing987654321 · 13/04/2020 20:39

Nope, neither of us are keen cleaners. The garage and garden are suddenly sorted though!

EightNineTen · 13/04/2020 20:39

No. If it was cleaner it really would be inexplicable as I currently live mainly in the garden these days!

megletthesecond · 13/04/2020 20:39

No.
WFH and 2 tweens. It's truly awful.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/04/2020 20:41

Proabably worse since ive been sorting the garden and decorating.

thunderthighsohwoe · 13/04/2020 20:43

We have a toddler who is normally at her grandparents five days a week while we work. I think they are finding that their house is cleaner....

user3274826 · 13/04/2020 20:45

Yes! I mean the kids are trashing the place constantly but I've dusted places that haven't been dusted in years and I've been cleaning out drawers and wardrobes and cupboards I've been wanting to get round to forever. Lots of daily surface chaos but deep cleansing and decluttering happening constantly. Usually we are out all weekend and school holidays so there is never time to get on top of anything more than surface cleaning.

ColdCottage · 13/04/2020 20:46

No, my son is home all day everyday and my cleaner isn't coming. Plus I'm baking and cooking lots.

derxa · 13/04/2020 20:51

No it's a shithole. I can't be bothered

custardbear · 13/04/2020 20:54

I'm usually working 50 plus hours per week, plus out at 6:30 For swimming - husband works full time too so not much time, however no swimming or commuting has helped
Also I'm absolutely bananas about keeping out Covid so disinfecting all the time when anyone goes shopping etc - had disinfectant in the steam Mop today and did the whole house as well as my daily disinfection of doors and kitchen Cupboards (outsides only but we have tonnes of cupboards!
Feel like I've stepped up a few notches!!
