Sorry if it's a daft question, but when is the lock down review? Still today?

@cologne4711 I hope you’re right. I’d don’t need much but I’d like to just be able to go to my mum’s and best friend's.

Just seen the daily press conference and Dominic Rabb said he doesn’t envisage any changes to the lockdown - formal update later this week.

Can someone enlighten me about the Thursday thing? The BBC this morning said Thursday and I've seen Thursday mentioned a few times, but the end of the legislation says:

The need for these restrictions must be reviewed by the Secretary of State every 21 days, with the first review taking place by 15th April 2020

15th April is Wednesday Confused

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/350/made/data.pdf

Is it Wednesday that it gets reviewed and an announcement on Thursday? Why is it not being reviewed during the day on Wednesday then an announcement Wednesday night? Although I imagine that they are reviewing it this week bit by bit.

It has to be reviewed by 1pm on Thursday (England) but no news yet as to when any announcement will be made.

RunningNinja79 · 13/04/2020 18:07

The official legislation says by 15th April 2020 that is Wednesday, not Thursday. I can't see where it says by 1PM on Thursday. Of course I'm happy to be wrong. I'm just confused.

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) Regulations 2020 were introduced in England on Thursday March 26 at 1pm.

Similar versions of the law were enacted in Wales at 4pm and in Scotland at 7.15pm on the same day, as well as at 11pm on Saturday in Northern Ireland.

The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) Regulations 2020 were introduced in England on Thursday March 26 at 1pm.

I can see that at the start of the legislation, but at the end it says the review to be done in 21 days by 15th April. 15th is Wednesday and 20 days. That's the part that doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway I'm just going to go round in circles when in reality it doesn't really matter. Until any guidance actually changes which isn't going to be this week anyway (unless they toughen up any rules) so never mind. The legislation says it must be reviewed by 15th April which is Wednesday, but they are going to do it on Thursday 16th April. That one day doesn't change anything anyway.

I think they're hesitant to make decisions with Boris off sick. I don't see them doing anything but extend the status quo in any case just yet.

I agree that they should have been clearer about when the review will be. Although we all know in reality that we are looking at least another 3 weeks restrictions it would be good to hear that for clarity. The other countries starting to change their restrictions are a few weeks ahead of us so we are looking at least that length still. We need to get through the peak AND the plateau before we see dropping it and it’s only then that restrictions will be changed for us. That could take a while yet. Also as a PP said this is just the first wave. Once restrictions are lifted the infection rate will rise again, as long as that remains low enough then it will continue, if the rate gets too high then restrictions will be tightened again, it’s a who knows situation really

Bluntness100 · 13/04/2020 23:13

Well they keep saying we are two weeks behind italy, so logic says if italy is now gently easing their restrictions then in two weeks we would be too.

Or maybe I’m just being optimistic, but it would be good if we were through the peak and saw some movement as we move into may.
