Ocado smart pass trials, tribulations and tiers

Background

On March 23, Ocado divided anytime and midweek smartpass members into random groups for access then realised that didn't work so divided us again into most loyal, loyal and near to miscellaneous tiers with having different levels of frequency for order delivery and indeed how many slots you can book in advance.

Certainly the most loyal and probably generally high average spend compared to local populations are the only ones being treated well. They are allowed to still book every seven days, can book 2-3 weeks in advance and are encouraged to book several slots over this time.

The rest of us are being treated with varying levels or service, disappointingly some have not had a single email since March 23 and still don't have access.

Those anytime pass members on the extremely vulnerable list by NHS England should be able to book every 7 days though aren't given the ability to book 2-3 weeks in advance. A few are apparently being called for fortnightly orders.

Ocado has been too greedy. They blame poor service on helping the extremely vulnerable but actually they let too many new and infrequent shoppers place orders putting too much stress on the system.

Complaints on social media are typically met with cut and paste replies. Both the call centre and chat comms have been shut down.

Those with weekly Reserved slots have had their places cancelled. The technology failed, or maybe actually wasn't fit for purpose anyhow

Here was our first thread

Let's hope we don't go to a third

Top tip is to try other companies including Morrisons who also deliver from warehouses.

Good luck to all

With the out of stock stuff, keep checking. I've had a few things that have been out of stock for the entire fortnight lead time for my order, only to come back into stock the day before the cut-off.

Also, this might already be well known, but I've only just discovered it... If you've got something in your basket and it then goes on offer, you'll still be charged the full price. But if you take it out of your basket and re-add it, you'll get the offer price. So I've gotten into the habit of checking the "Offers" tab on cut-off day (since favourites are listed at the top, it's easy to spot the offers on anything I might have ordered).

Is anyone else getting free "thank you" toblerones? Confused

bruffin · 01/06/2020 10:16

Last couple of weeks i have had 4 or 5 missing items and week before ridiculously expensive subs. Unfortunately i get my delivery early and didnt realise i was getting subs and my subs were £16 more than the original. 2pkts of 3 for £10 steak were replaced with £20 sirloin, they discounted by a third but still double the price of what i originally wanted , then chicken was twice the price. I complained and the begrudgingly gave me a £10 off my bill, but if i would have been 3 meals down if i hadnt accepted the subs.

Join the thread again, hoping that everyone else's experience had settled down.

I'm noticing some out of stocks, last week was Campari (!) which necessitated a trip out for DH who has been otherwise quite content at home.

Now I read of 'free thank you toblerones'

I'm not actually keen on them, having overindulged in an airport waiting for a delayed plane but nevertheless. 😀

kingkuta · 01/06/2020 14:36

My Campari has been getting delivered by Amazon FinallyHere. Next day delivery and £3 cheaper.

What's with the free Toblerones? Are they just being sent with peoples shopping?

Fallpoetry · 01/06/2020 14:46

It came through via email, like the anniversary gifts do. Comes in a little custom sleeve that has "Thank You" printed on it... never going to complain about free chocolate just found it a bit surprising and wondered if anyone else got the email, since it seems none of my friends or family did?

Fuss · 01/06/2020 15:38

No free chocolate for me, but I did get some Star Reviewer stuff last week.

Quarantino · 01/06/2020 15:48

About 4 annoying subs today and one missing key ingredient for a meal so I'll need to do an extra supermarket trip for the first time since lockdown started. LNot hugely impressed with their stock control tbh.

tootyfruitypickle · 01/06/2020 15:49

Ah I never get the freebies . Have absolutely no idea why ! But I think this thread has shown Ocado defy any reason!

FredAstaireAteMyHamSandwich · 01/06/2020 22:15

I got my star reviewer email the other day, but my Mum will have to write the reviews as I am giving her my twice monthly slots! Two of the review products are out of stock though!

kingkuta · 01/06/2020 22:22

What did you get FredAstaireAteMyHamSandwich? I got deodorant, toothpaste, tampons and breadsticks. I prefer the ones with alcohol Smile

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 01/06/2020 22:30

Especially combined with them slowly withdrawing some Waitrose products ...

Oh ... Is that why I've seen neither hide nor hare of the Waitrose Extra Virgin olive oil for weeks now? Keep ordering it, keep getting crappy, more expensive subs. If this is why, I'll have to give up on them for oil and start bulk buying elsewhere.

It's funny, I'm mostly pissed off with the M&S thing as I find much of their produce disappointing, but was on the phone to a friend who's absolutely thrilled as M&S is her favourite grocer. I'm gradually diversifying ...

FredAstaireAteMyHamSandwich · 02/06/2020 23:52

Kingkuta I got a can of energy drink, some extremely expensive pasta with truffles ( they substituted it with same pasta without truffles). The frozen courgettes were out of stock! I love the alcohol samples. We had Rum and whisky last year. At one point I had a years supply of washing detergent, they were rolling it out every time!

CarlaH · 04/06/2020 13:32

Not interested in Waitrose stuff but am in the Marks and Spencer tie up.

However I can't even log in to Ocado let alone try and get a slot.

Am hoping that they might allow me the courtesy of giving them my money when the M&S stuff starts being offered.

bruffin · 05/06/2020 10:13

Im not interested in the M&S stuff, its ok occasionally but very limited choice most of the time.
Im going to miss the waitrose frozen pain aux raisin, and a few other bits,I also think M&S will be more expensive, but will give it a try

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 05/06/2020 10:19

A different thread prompted me to have another look at Waitrose, now that they do actually deliver to my area. But still limited deliveries - and I have a slight feeling of 'better the devil you know ...'.

CarlaH · 10/06/2020 15:54

I don't want to have to go to Marks and Spencer or any shop.

I was hoping Ocado would help with that but it seems not.

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/06/2020 20:21

Anyone else have an email today saying they can have deliveries every 5 days now?

Applesandpears23 · 10/06/2020 22:12

@FlamingoAndJohn

Anyone else have an email today saying they can have deliveries every 5 days now?
Yes, mine said every 3 days.
badtime · 10/06/2020 23:04

I looked at the calendar and was really surprised to see open slots in between my weekly ones! I don't need to order that frequently, but if there is now enough capacity to do this, there must be more people able to order.

TheFallenMadonna · 10/06/2020 23:05

Every 2 days!

FurForksSake · 10/06/2020 23:06

Five days for me, but I can deal with that as I am back star reviewing and enjoying a rather nice bottle of brandy.

bruffin · 10/06/2020 23:56

I havent had an email, but looks like can order every 3 or 4 days

CarlaH · 11/06/2020 08:43

Tried again. Still not allowed to login and you are saying you can have a slot every few days. WTF.

kingkuta · 11/06/2020 08:50

Yes every 3 days and have finally got my free toblerones Grin
