I found this a bit disturbing to read, just to warn you if at all sensitive. (link)

Coronavirus in New York: A paramedic's diary

I will give the link, it is on BBC today. Feel so sad reading this. How are these people not getting treated before getting to this stage? Is it the healthcare, or is the virus just this severe to be taking people before they are even being seen Sad is it like this here? I hope not, but am unsure.

When i walk through the park I also see an ambulance parked there, as if waiting. Not sure what that is about.

You’ll often see ambulances and paramedic cars parked up in various places waiting for their next call. They don’t go back to a central place each time.

Moonflower12 · 12/04/2020 13:30

The ambulance will be on standby.

A lot of the stations have been shut to save money.

My DP is a Hospital Ambulance Liason Officer at a major city hospital in the midlands.

They are having Covid 19 patients coming in and dying before they leave the department despite their very best attempts. This is a very aggressive virus. He says that the poor people come in breathless and then literally go downhill at a rate of knots. He is in bits when he gets home after a shift.

Orangeblossom78 · 12/04/2020 14:15

Do you think they should be making the public more aware of calling 999 perhaps? Or would it scare people. Not sure.

Yes it was there again in the park today. Very central city park so makes sense. Sad

I am hearing a lot more sirens than usual. We’re not in a hot spot, but there are quite a lot of care homes nearby. Heard three this morning alone.

Orangeblossom78 · 12/04/2020 14:39

I live along main road to the hospital here (city but SW and not many cases - yet) heard a couple today

moonflower that sounds awful. I’m so sorry to hear what’s happening. I think so many people are being extremely literal about staying at home and not bothering the nhs until they’re symptoms are life threatening and they’re on deaths door.

Moonflower12 · 12/04/2020 18:56

@justanotherneighinparadise
I 'think' it takes a turn for the worst suddenly but then it might be that people are taking the staying at home too literally.
It is a bastard virus. The poor people who have to die alone with just the NHS staff with them. They try their best but it's not the same as having your loved ones with you.
