Ryanair has NOT cancelled my flight for Sunday

Why do people keep suggesting to claim through insurance when the OP said very clearly in her opening post that she doesn't have it.

Insurance is useless anyway. I have annual insurance and added on disruption to it before this got too serious. Our Costa rica flight from Gatwick has been cancelled so I contacted them about getting a refund for Easyjet flights to Gatwick and non refundable deposit on one set of accommodation.They said I should approach supplier first about any refunds and also I think their excess is per person per trip so its hardly worth claiming.

If your return flight is cancelled you should be entitled to a refund to both. Before all this started I had flights booked with Ryan Air and they changed the time of the flight home to a full day earlier, therefore we were offered a full refund for both flights. I assume the same would apply for your cancelled return flight. Good luck!

The flights have been cancelled so Ryan Air should refund. I have travel insurance and booked on credit card but each flight was less than £100 so I understand credit card won’t pay out. Travel insurance also has an excess.

Ryan Air should just make this easier.

I'm chatting to Ryanair and basically there's nothing they can do. Keep saying to wait until it's cancelled. But looks obvious that it won't as it's the one flight a day that was left on for essential travel.

I wonder if I can claim anything on my credit card? Was £170.

Ryanair were saying in the news a few days ago that they expect to fly minimal if any flights, and that 99% would be cancelled.

Probably the one true thing that their customer service department have ever said.

I live near Stansted Airport, which is one of their main UK based. There are hardly any flights going over to land there these days (we live under it's main approach route). Barely a handful, I would say. Of those two or three will be Ryanair and the other I have noticed is FedEx, so an American courier aircraft.

You just have to keep checking with them, even though their customer service can be a total pain in the arse. Ryanair will be doing the bare minimum, so that they can try to wriggle out of giving refunds.

Thanks I will keep checking, but they have confirmed that they are keeping a minimum number of flights and looks like I'm just unlucky to have been booked to one of those.

My return flight which is 10 days later has already been cancelled. Unfortunately the return is not part of the same booking, we booked separately because we were travelling there on different flights but back on the same flight.

My understanding of credit card claims is that each item in the transaction has to be over £100. So if you bought two flights in one transaction of £170 and each flight was £85 then you can’t claim, but if you bought one flight for £170 then you can claim.

Just out of interest, how long did it take for Ryan Air to process the refund? I’ve been waiting for 10 days and it hasn’t been processed yet.

Glad they cancelled! Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for a refund! Though, in future, I would definitely suggest insurance from now on. Things will be uncertain for a long time.

Have travel insurance
Credit card will not refund
Airlines just say cancelled on their email

I believe that there is a huge backlog of complaints due to the virus situation

They have the money to go on the trip but are too tight ( or stupid ) to pay for insurance.

I made my claim with Norwegian 3,5 weeks ago. No refund yet.

Couldn't get a refund with the hotel and travel insurance refuses. Apparently insurance doesn't have to pay if the trip was/is over 14 days after a declaration of pandemic. Even if you booked before the whole thing started.

Standard travel insurances dont cover pandemic. If you start including all unlikely events to your insurance it will cost more than the trip. So in this case it is unlikely that insurance would help. I already mentioned earlier that my travel insurance included pandemic coverage, but only up to 14 days from pandemic declaration. After that they dont have to cover.
