Carrie Symonds massive PR stunt?

Reading what CS has said seems to me to be a massive PR stunt basically telling people /pregnant women they don’t need testing if they have Symptoms. Are we really supposed to believe that she hasn’t been tested given she is carrying the PM’s child and he is positive? Of course she has been tested, albeit probably privately (which I don’t have a problem with - her money). I know what the advice about testing is - I simply don’t believe she hasn’t been tested. This is just to show “we are all being treated the same” when we all know that is not the case.

She tweeted: “I’ve spent the past week in bed with the main symptoms of Coronavirus. I haven’t needed to be tested and, after seven days of rest, I feel stronger and I’m on the mend. Being pregnant with Covid-19 is obviously worrying. To other pregnant women, please do read and follow the most up to date guidance which I found to be v reassuring.”

Why don't you believe her? She can't get it right can she - she says she didn't have a test and people think she's lying. If she had had a test that would be wrong as taking it away from essential workers. Not everyone lies - have you considered that perhaps she is telling the truth? And I'm sure she realises she'd look very silly if found out so is unlikely to lie.

Well if she had symptoms it’s obvious she has CV too, she wouldn’t need a test as she’s living with someone who has it 🤷🏻‍♀️

As a front line technician surely you realise she didnt need to be tested. She showed symptoms and acted accordingly. Same as we are expected to do.
Charles and therefore by extension Camilla have a uniquely privileged life, with everything that brings. I would assume Charles would have insisted on a test for her and his yes men did exactly that.

I dont understand your point tbh. Her partner has CV she then developed mild symptoms... what would the point of a test be? It wouldnt change a single thing at this point. If she had to go into hospital then it would be different again. The PM got tested cause he has quite an important job. You are literally bitching that a pregnant woman has followed government advice and is telling others to do the same.

Carrie's background is in comms. Yy I think there was an underlying subtext of people don't need to be tested and of reinforcing the government's messaging. But, of course, she's going to do that. She's engaged to the PM and used to run Conservative comms. That doesn't mean that she's lying.

It's in the public interest to know whether the PM has it or not so of course Boris should have been tested.

And I fully agree that she is probably doing a publicity stunt. I also don’t understand how Charles and Camilla qualify but frontline staff.
I also believe Charles shouldn’t have been allowed to inaugurate the hospital built by hard work of your people and army.
This crisis has brought forward the hypocrisy that is so deeply ingrained in our society.

I don't believe for one second that she wasn't tested. Boris is coming in for some serious criticism over his no-testing unless hospitalised stance so I bet they're using it for spin.

I think Charles got tested in Scotland. Scotlands criteria for testing is different to Englands.

Why do you think Camilla was tested? And how nasty of you, even if she is 'lying' (which I don't see why she would have reason to), perhaps it brings comfort to some pregnant women. It's funny how whenever someone starts a thread that everyone doesn't nod in agreement to they drip feed about being an NHS worker as if that means everyone must now agree. The Royal family and the Prime minister recieveing solitary tests is a whole different kettle of fish to providing every healthcare worker one. Not that it's acceptable that it isn't happening, but it really takes a special kind of ridiculousness to not comprehend why those examples have been tested.

Side note, but why is she self-isolating at Chequers?
It is a public property used by the PM?
She has her own property that she bought with our Chief Liar.
Why is she not self-isolating there? Instead of in a public property paid for and maintained by the taxpayer?

Everything any politician ever does in public is spin. His or her family are all part of that. Unbelievable naivety on here. Of course she was tested, and of course they were going to spin it as a story to reassure other pregnant women they don't need tests either. Poor bloody woman though.

What a horrible post. She is a pregnant woman and all she is saying is that she had symptoms and didn't need to be tested and is now starting to feel better. Seriously there are some awful posts on here at the moment.

Prince Charles was hospitalised with pneumonia as a teenager - COVID-19 is a viral pneumonia isn't it? He may be susceptible to pneumonia and this made him eligible for testing in Scotland - or perhaps he has other health conditions we are not aware of. We don't have access to his medical records.

I’m not sure the point you are making? If the rules were followed, neither Charles or Boris would be tested as they were not admitted to hospital.

My job was not meant as a drip feed - it was a direct response to a poster who was asking if I understood the rules for testing.

I’m not “being unkind” to a pregnant woman - I’m saying that I don’t believe for a nano second she wasn’t tested and I do believe this is the machinations of the Tory spin doctors putting out messages about testing not being as important as some people might think given they have been absolutely slaughtered about the testing fiasco.

For those who disagree - why do you think she felt it necessary to tell us she hadn’t “needed” a test? Why not just say “I’ve had some symptoms and now on the mend?”

I’m in Scotland. He got tested by NHS Grampian. He absolutely did not meet their published criteria at the time. It has now been removed from the website.

Why would she be tested? She has symptoms and Boris has it so of course she has it.

Remember when Boris first said that he had it people were claiming it was a stunt and he was just doing it for a bit of a break?

People stopped spouting that one when he started looking ill.
