www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/apr/05/scotland-chief-medical-officer-seen-flouting-lockdown-advice-catherine-calderwood

It’s bloody ridiculous and makes her position borderline untenable, which is infuriating because she has otherwise been very good.

@BurgerQuean

Actually that is a fair point! You are right.

BelleharePenguin09 · 05/04/2020 12:41

I just hope that all the keyboard warriors on here policing the application of the government guidelines have themselves been observing government guidance on diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, exercise and obesity over the years.

How pathetic. Is that really the best you can do?

JellyFishSquish · 05/04/2020 12:41

I cannot understand how this is not a resign-worthy.

Chief Medical Officer, for crying out loud. If ANYBODY truly understood the importance of staying put, she did.

But it seems it is excusable as long as she apologises? Stay home and save lives, unless you are CMO in which case you can kill a few, as long as you then say you are sorry. But only when you are caught. Otherwise, crack on!

BelleharePenguin09 · 05/04/2020 12:46

If Hancock ups the ante - and I think he should - she must accept that the part she played in her arrogance, contributed.

She is just another idiot who flouts the rules.

Rosehip10 · 05/04/2020 13:21

If she "knows the guidelines better than anyone" as the SG are saying then either a.) she doesn't give a shit b.) think the guidelines are shit/wrong.

Either way her position is untenable.

BurgerQuean · 05/04/2020 13:30

Police have been to her house to give her a verbal warning and there’s now a press conference at 2, so I expect this will be the resignation.

Honestly, what an astonishing lack of judgment.

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 05/04/2020 13:34

I am glad she has been held up and she will probably lose her job just because she wanted out if the house for a bit !

Mrsjayy · 05/04/2020 13:35

All because*

PapsofJura · 05/04/2020 13:38

I am absolutely astounded by the sheer stupidity of this. The vast majority of the population are doing as we’ve been told and all of us are suffering in some way and then the person telling us to do this is floughting the rules.

How is she going to have any credibility now especially as the Uk government are talking about ramping up the lockdown. If it wasn’t so serious it would be an absolute joke.

Likethebattle · 05/04/2020 13:53

She should be fined. Ordinary folk would be, show an example.

JellyFishSquish · 05/04/2020 13:56

She should lose her job, ffs

iMoan7 · 05/04/2020 14:03

Absolute arsehole. How can they expect us plebs to take it seriously when she’s off doing shit like this?! The sacrifices we have made. Kids’ world turned upside down. Job losses. School closures. People dying alone. It makes me really angry.

BlueThursday · 05/04/2020 14:41

FM and CMO appearing now

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 05/04/2020 14:43

She has to resign

PersonaNonGarter · 05/04/2020 14:44

I hope she steps down. It is so rude.

She has behaved like this because she thinks there is one rule for her and one rule for others. That poor leadership and poor judgement rand she should lose her job for those alone.

mondaynoon · 05/04/2020 14:46

It will be a disgrace if she doesn't resign.

Derbygerbil · 05/04/2020 14:48

If she doesn’t resign, she should be sacked.

BlueThursday · 05/04/2020 14:50

What does it take for a member of the Scottish government to be sacked?

iMoan7 · 05/04/2020 14:51

This is an awkward watch 🙈

Innitogether · 05/04/2020 14:53

Agree, it’s almost unbearable to watch the briefing. She’s obviously had a real bollocking.

LizzieMacQueen · 05/04/2020 14:55

Whopper of a mistake and I was quite a fan of hers. But SNP are good at hiring/hiding shite-sters (might not be a word).

Derek Mackay is still on 100% pay, I understand.

AgeLikeWine · 05/04/2020 14:55

Sturgeon must be absolutely furious....

Scotland’s own CMO can’t follow the guidelines
JingsMahBucket · 05/04/2020 14:56

Why on earth should she lose her job in the middle of a global pandemic and crisis? This is the worst time to fire someone with most of the knowledge and then put in a new person. I don’t get this UK habit of always booting people out immediately after a seemingly minor mistake. You never get anything done that way in government. It’s always a jostling for power.

Rosehip10 · 05/04/2020 14:58

Turns out the weekend before she went to her second home for a break with her husband!

BBCONEANDTWO · 05/04/2020 14:59

@Rosehip10 Is that definitely correct that she went the weekend before - I was under the impression that these people were working 24/7 - I wonder how true all this stuff is.
