Were supposed go be going to Majorca in June but fully expecting it to be cancelled.

We're going through on the beach (flights with Tui) and obviously still have to pay the balances in order to hopefully get a refund.

Just wondering for anyone who has had one cancelled, how soon before you were due to go was it cancelled?

Following. I have been paying LoveHolidays since last year for our holiday in Sept. Not heard anything and am also paying off balance in hope of a refund.

My holiday due to depart 6 April was cancelled by the travel agent on 16 March. It was paid in full. Travel Agent is Trailfinders.

blossombabies · 05/04/2020 11:42

our holiday is with on the beach and in may, i got in touch last month and they said best way was to wait for ryanair to cancel that flight and refund is guaranteed, otherwise it needs to go through insurance company. how true that is i have no idea but so far flights are grounded only until spain's lockdown so we need to wait for spain to announce it for next month as well .. its a pain but im hoping it all gets sorted soon.

I had a holiday booked in June. My tour operator phoned me two weeks ago and asked if I’d like to move dates, either to later this year or to next year. I’ve moved it to later this year and they have said if there are still restrictions they can move it again. There has been no additional cost for moving it all.

I had a holiday booked for 1st April through Love Holidays, I had emails when all flights were cancelled saying they will get in touch with me, eventually for an email 2 days before the holiday asking me to choose between changing the date or accepting a credit note. The flights will be refunded (Jet2) but it’s could be over a month before we receive that but we have to accept a credit note for the hotel and transfers which they will refund in cash if not used before the end of July.

Looked up tui tweets on Twitter as due a refund for next week and they are saying to people that they expect travel from the 16 run April to go ahead! We haven't heard anything at all from them.
Anyone heard anything ?
We were due to fly out on Tuesday 7th April

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/04/2020 11:54

We were supposed to fly out tomorrow with tui and have heard nothing as yet.

The80sweregreat · 05/04/2020 11:56

I'm surprised at the answers on the tui twitter feed. They are busy etc but I thought we'd hear something by now.
They also are telling people that fights are ok from the 16 th April? Tad confused !

chickedeee · 05/04/2020 12:00

I thought the foreign office was still advising against travel ?

I was so shocked at the replies on twitter on tui to some customers!
I wonder if it's just to put people off ringing them up?

The80sweregreat · 05/04/2020 12:02

Tui are saying 'we will contact you. '
They haven't yet!

Itsjustmee · 05/04/2020 12:27

I have a holiday in June I’ve only paid £150
The rest of the balance is due in May.
Absolutely no way am I paying over 6k and hopefully manage to be get it back in full or a credit note
I’ve rang up the the credit card company and told them that I lost the card so I have a completely new number and exp date and 3 digit code .
The 6k and the spending money I had already put it aside so I’m going to use that to money to live off for a few months .
If you take a credit note and the company goes bust that credit note is worth fuck all
So for companies offering a credit note they get to keep your money and not pay you or there suppliers if they go under .

The80sweregreat · 05/04/2020 12:31

I want my refund. I can't trust them to reschedule the holiday them they've have problems later on this year and get to keep my money. I think many other people will feel the same.

stripesareforlife · 05/04/2020 12:33

I've booked a holiday mid June through loveholidays I'm waiting until nearer the time to see what happens with a refund or rebook for hopefully next year.

Emcont · 05/04/2020 12:45

Not heard anything and you're supposed to have flown tomorrow?! That's mad!

I’m supposed to go to Canada in June. I hope they let us know soon as I have annual
Leave to cancel.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/04/2020 12:53

36 mins on hold so far. Luckily it's an 0800 number.

I missed a phone call the other week from.the store I booked in but couldn't then get back in touch...and they promptly had to shut up shop.

Ginisatonic · 05/04/2020 12:58

We were supposed to depart on 14 April. We haven’t been contacted yet although we know it’s cancelled due to FCO advice. The rules have changed regarding refunds on packages. As someone further up the thread said you can either reschedule or accept a credit note. Currently if you don’t use the credit note by 31 July you can then ask for a refund. Which is what we’ll be doing.

Lauren83 · 05/04/2020 12:59

We have a package holiday with Jet2 on 15/5 but it's not been cancelled yet

Emcont · 05/04/2020 13:00

I'll be happy to postpone it until the same time next year. I'm worried they'll go under first with the amount of refunds they're going to be doing!

Tui are bullshit at the moment. Meant to be on a cruise with them right now. The lack of communication has been appalling, there is no leadership from the top and the poor people manning their social media are clearly reading from a poorly worded script, which is just winding everyone up - apart from couple of Tui disciples who are defending them to the death and getting nasty with worried customers.
We are keeping everything crossed for a refund, but can't see that happening to be honest.
And yes, they are still pretending travel is going ahead and taking new bookings!Angry

Undies1990 · 05/04/2020 13:06

We were due to fly on Thursday, 8th April and received cancellation email on 24th March. We applied for a refund rather than rebook or get voucher as worried about the travel firm going bust. Still waiting for the refund, mind you!

Permanantlypuzzled · 05/04/2020 13:10

I’ve got a holiday booked with Jet2 on the 12th May .
I had an email last week telling me my holiday is on the horizon and asking what I am looking forward to doing most.
Should I start packing?

The80sweregreat · 05/04/2020 18:49

Quick to take our money but slow to refund it! Always the same with any transaction then!
Still not heard anything from them.
