I have been going for a walk at the same time daily since lockdown and usually see very few people or cars. Today was noticeably different there were a lot more people out and about walking and more cars on the roads. Has anyone else noticed this?
Perhaps people reached lockdown fatigue.

our area was so busy yesterday, i kept crossing the road and endet up walking the dog in the middle of the street as side walks were busy. didn't even enter the park as it was so full it was ridiculous. also we live close to a road and traffic today is getting back to usual 🤷‍♀️

The graph in the briefing today proves what people have been ancedotedly saying. Motor traffic has increased over the last couple of days while use of public transport has thankfully continued to decrease.

  1. People got paid
  2. People know worse lockdown is coming - must get more food
  3. People (key work) tried to work from home, found network failing, back to working from office

I'm in the south west and also noticed yesterday that there were many more people around and definitely cars on the roads. Also people posting on Facebook asking whether garden centres are open. The cracks are beginning.

I think for a lot of people the virus is an abstract concept. To date it has killed 2953 people - 0.004% of the population and far fewer than the seasonal flu. If you do get it the chances of survival for most people are overwhelmingly in your favour. Perhaps people just aren’t that scared. If it had wiped out 10% or 20% of the population I think it would be a totally different story.
