Badly done Ocado

thegrumpallo · 31/03/2020 08:14

Ocado is in a complete tail-spin. My email to cancel my order was obviously missed - and I have just had to reject the resulting unnecessary delivery on my doorstep.
At the door the customer service person on the phone to the driver refused to speak to me ( 'I can't get her another slot')...
I'm sorry I know supermarkets are overwhelmed but this is really, really disappointing. Why can't Ocado get it together - online shopping is surely what it does?

OP posts:

Don't know if you've heard but there's a pandemic going on

Get a grip FFS

katkit · 31/03/2020 08:20

Hilarious!

Anon3214w · 31/03/2020 08:28

But email all Ocado shoppers got was clear that to cancel order email them which you have done so I understand your frustration. You’re feeling bad that delivery had to be rejected and you won’t get another slot as the email said. Other posters she knows it’s a pandemic but OP can feel annoyed at the same time!

slartibarti · 31/03/2020 08:31

So you refused the order and are furious with Ocado because they wouldn't give you another delivery slot?

coachman · 31/03/2020 08:32

Is this a wind up?

Anon3214w · 31/03/2020 08:33

OP do you have an unlimited delivery smart pass? I only have the cheaper one (don’t remember name) so at least you will get another slot in 7 days I think whereas other smart passes have to wait. I’m waiting for response apparently we should get another email with more info.

BlackCatSleeping · 31/03/2020 08:33

Well, you cancelled it. They missed that, so you declined the order. Surely that’s the end of it. It’s hardly worth getting upset about.

cornishdreams1 · 31/03/2020 08:34

You were fortunate enough to have a slot in the first place, I would have said thank you taken the food and probably offered it to family and friends if they were in need of something, and stored the rest.

You do know your chances of getting another slot will be limited?

We are in the middle of a crisis, what on earth did you expect? Ocado, like all others, are doing their best.

Anon3214w · 31/03/2020 08:39

Mumsnetters I would have reacted same way as yourselves if I hadn’t got the email from Ocado with clear instructions regarding cancelling and delivery slots every 7 days (not guaranteed you get invited and even then no guarantee as very limited slots to non-vulnerable). Don’t want to get into any wars over someone else’s post first thing in morning! OP maybe post up the email so they can see. But again as I said you were very lucky to get slot and I can see why you’re annoyed.

blueberryyoghurt · 31/03/2020 08:41

I actually can't believe with the numbers of people struggling to get food delivered that you turned food away on your doorstep....

Unless you are very financially strapped, I would have taken it and frozen/given away the rest...

AmelieTaylor · 31/03/2020 08:45

I agree with @blueberryyoghurt

I would have accepted the delivery and stored what I could & given the rest to family & friends.

Causing extra work & a wasted delivery is nuts right now unless you absolutely couldn’t afford it. Though I’m sure family/friends/neighbours would have happily paid for the things they wanted.

Itsallpointless · 31/03/2020 08:46

I work in the community, someone was pissing and moaning about substitutes for their online shopping yesterdayHmm

Unless you are absolutely skint and cannot afford the food you ordered, then I'd say you're very lucky to have some food in, and hope you can make use of it, or EVEN give it away!

We all need to let our normal irritations go, as nothing, at present, is normal.

whattheheckisgoingon · 31/03/2020 08:48

I couldn’t get worked about this tbh. Mistakes happen. The supermarkets are doing all they can to radically change how they operate to keep up with demand.

Greggers2017 · 31/03/2020 08:49

What an absolute tw*t you are. I'd have snapped your arm off for that delivery slot. I really haven't got the time to keep driving between 3 supermarkets to get what I need every week. I'm also having to do my mums and my nanas shopping for the next 12 weeks at least. I can't get delivery slots for them either. Why are you wasting so many peoples time during the current circumstances? Just cancel all your deliveries and let someone use it who needs it. 🙄

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2020 08:50

People are really desperate for a delivery so I’m not sure you’ll get much sympathy for turning one away.

If you were asking for another slot why didn’t you just take it?

They are rammed!

I really feel for the driver.

icelollycraving · 31/03/2020 09:02

They missed your email, understandable.
I wouldn’t have turned away a shop (unless money is really tight), particularly if you wanted another slot.
Poor driver.
Ocado is not the one who looks bad here.

INeedNewShoes · 31/03/2020 09:07

You could have given the shop to a neighbour!

I had trouble getting in touch with Ocado to cancel mine but I organised my neighbours to look out for it arriving just in case the message didn't get through and told them to make use of my shop.

The supermarkets are doing everything they can and really, you're very lucky if this is your biggest concern.

SunshineCake · 31/03/2020 09:09

I don't want to pile in but maybe have a think about those things are now for us all. Some people are seriously going without food and you turned it all away. I really hope the fresh stuff didn't all have to be thrown away.

runrabbitrunrunrun · 31/03/2020 09:16

Couldn’t you have kept it and just doubled up on the caviar and champagne?

JustOneSquareofDarkChocolate · 31/03/2020 09:27

All that food gone to waste. Surely you could have kept the store cupboard non perishables and given away the fresh food? Our local hospitals are taking in fresh food for staff who can’t get shopping slots. A friend and her DH are both A&E doctors with four kids and they are running out of food as they can’t get into the shops and can’t get delivery slots. They are relying on handouts from friends and neighbours
