One in a shop and one delivering.

It just doesn't seem right. I'm so worried about them 😓

Dad was in the police for over 30 years. Retired, got bored and joined the NHS, where he is now at 65.

I am worried about him, and mum who isnt in the best health.

Spent so much of my childhood worrying about dD going to work. Cant believe I am doing it again

Nonnymum · 30/03/2020 22:09

I m worried about the people they may be infecting!
Why do you think they will be infecting people any more than other shop workers or delivery drivers ? They are both doing very important jobs in our current situation.
I understand why you are worried about them though OP. Just keep telling them to make sure they abide by social distancing rules and that they wash their hands frequently. Or if they are not near water use hand sanitiser regularly until they can get to soap and water.

Bellendejour · 30/03/2020 22:09

My mum is a community nurse and still doing patient visits, injections etc and is 69 - it does really worry me. I guess you just have to hope they’ll be okay and handwashing, distancing etc helps protect them. I do try to think that the people she is visiting are often quite isolated (why it’s important she still sees them) so they have effectively been self isolating for a while.

It's a pretty crap world. The over 60s should be protected and paid to be at home on furlough.

GreenShadow · 30/03/2020 22:20

Over 60 is hardly old TestBank They don't need protection yet. Over 70 maybe but not a normal 60 year old

TestBank · 30/03/2020 22:22

We are paying a fortune to prop up people's salaries, apparently because we care so much about others. I'm not going to post too much on this thread but why not support the over 60s to stay at home for this lockdown?

Miljea. Why don’t you come back and tell us your reasons for being worried? Or are you ashamed at how ridiculous your comment was?

KaptenKrusty · 30/03/2020 22:34

@Miljea what are you talking about??

WinstonWolf · 30/03/2020 23:00

@Helenj1977 - Flowers for you.

I know exactly how you feel. I know my mum has been really worried about it, but isn't one to talk about things. Meanwhile I'm just trying to distract myself as best I can, because what else can you do?

alloutoffucks · 30/03/2020 23:33

@GreenShadow WHO recommend that over 60s stay at home because mortality rate is quite a bit higher once you are over 60. France has done this.
It is impossible in the UK though as only those who could afford to take early retirement are not working.

Miljea · 31/03/2020 19:40

HelenJ Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought from your post you meant 'why am I socially distancing, and putting up with that privation, while my parents are a) gaily serving in a frock shop and b) delivering dry-cleaning?'

I thought your 😢 meant you despaired of them, rather than that you were worried about them.

Helenj1977 · 31/03/2020 20:20

@Miljea Ha ha! I wish! Parents are worse then children, they won't listen and your can't take their phones off of them 😂

Mum is now going to wear a mask I think. I'm getting there...
