Holiday booked for June - WWYD?

Hi. We booked with On The Beach to go to Majorca mid June, we have been paying in installments. I've checked and if we cancel now then we have to pay nearly £1000 for the flights, cancellations fees etc. I understand that if we are told we can't go then we will get a full refund.

But what do you think the likelihood of being able to go? Does anyone know whether you can change the dates with on the beach, so we could postpone until later in the year or next year?

The travel guy that comes on good morning Britain, Simon something said something really relevant about the the other day. He said if you still have balance to pay, although it seems counter intuitive, pay it. If you cancel you will have voided the contract and won't get any money back. If you pay and then can't go you should get the money back via travel insurance.

We're meant to be going to Sicily in June; absolutely gutted but can't see it happening.

Wait until either you hear that your flight is cancelled or the travel agent cancels the trip for a solid claim. If you cancel now they will wriggle out of it by saying you were just disinclined to travel and your insurance will be void. I was supposed to be going away Friday but it was only yesterday that I could actually contact them about it all as they only deal with cases 6 days away!!!
