Why is Prince Charles allowed to isolate

At his holiday home in the Highlands? Grin

If he was there already, hadn't we been asked not to do that?

I do wish him well but come on, one rule for one.....

Floco yes quite we must firstly consider their comfort before our own. A sham.

I’d do a vote on it.

jay55 · 25/03/2020 16:52

Lots of people will be working in Charles's household that will need to be kept away from him. Best to have him tested so he can be told to put his own pants on in the morning.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/03/2020 16:57

The criteria for testing in Scotland are different and apparently he met them.

chocoholico · 25/03/2020 18:45

Why was Camilla tested? No symptoms. Not a hospital inpatient?

because they are royal feckers.

I have a friend in Scotland. she has underlying conditions, her 5 year old DD has asthma and her DH is usually not and well. They all have been having a fever for a fortnight now which is not coming down and my friend and her DD are having a cough which is not easing off. They cannot get seen, nor can they get tested. Meanwhile, symptom free Camilla and Charles with mild symptoms...

chocoholico · 25/03/2020 18:48

They always split up the royal family in times of crisis to ensure continuity should anything happens

well, we have having a huge national crisis right now and if all they can do is going into hiding in their second homes (which includes probably also dragging the virus out into communities with less dense medical facilities) then they are frankly speaking completely disposable.

chocoholico · 25/03/2020 18:52

Lots of people will be working in Charles's household that will need to be kept away from him.

you know that there are lots of people working at the NHS frontline who need tests urgently as they are coming into contact with a lot more people the Charles! Hmm

Testing Charles was not a priority when there aren't enough tests.

OrangeTwirl · 25/03/2020 18:55

Eh? Why shouldn’t he be allowed to isolate? We should all be doing just that. What part of ‘Stay home. Keep safe’ don’t you understand? 🤔

BrexpatInSwitzerland · 25/03/2020 19:01

I wish PC well for personal reasons as well as out of principle:

On a personal level, I don't want anyone to be ill or suffer. Yes, this includes over-privileged royals whose very existence (as an institution) I regard as an insult to anything that's good and fair!

Out of principle, for goodness' sake, I hope Charles will be okay. I really, really hope that the queen dying will be the moment when we revisit whether this level of undeserved privilege and status is anything like remotely ethically feasible. And I'm kind of betting on "I want to be your tampon" over "technically a cheating bastard of questionable credentials - but half of the population remembers a child keeping it together on national TV and walking behind mum's coffin" on that front.

Wouldn't it be ironic if CV killed thousands but helped the bloody monarchy survive, though?

rosie1959 · 25/03/2020 19:02

Give the poor bloke a break not his fault he was born into royalty
Obviously they aren't going to want him in the same place as the queen

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 25/03/2020 19:03

Charles and Camilla will have been tested due to being in contact with the Queen
That is not why he was tested. Charles was tested because he has symptoms and because he has been in close contact with Prince Albert of Monaco who has also tested positive for Coronavirus.

Why was Camilla tested? No symptoms. Not a hospital inpatient?
Because she has an intimate relationship with her husband who does have the virus?
Because if she did have it too, it could be announced publicly and those who have been in contact with her could ensure they self-isolated?

He needs to fuck off back to London and look the East End in the face, or something.
Anyone else in the country has to self-isolate if not hospitalised. Why should he be any different?

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/03/2020 19:07

I would assume that for all of them it's a case of following government instructions - any civil unrest is more likely in London, not having the royals there will take away one extra issue for police there

In London for the Blitz, fucked off for this. They're looking more and more disposable.

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 19:10

Charles was tested because he has symptoms and because he has been in close contact with Prince Albert of Monaco who has also tested positive for Coronavirus.

That’s not why they test here now. What is the situation in Scotland? Are they doing home testing for contact tracing?

SirGawain · 25/03/2020 19:23

Why was he tested?
Presumably he displayed symptoms of CV.

LargeGinOnTap · 25/03/2020 19:26

Are the royal family ?(excluding the queen) key workers?

He's in his 70s so would be following the advice of stringent social distancing and self isolating

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 19:30

Sir oth ers aren’t. Is it because he’s royal or in Scotland?

Clavinova · 25/03/2020 19:35

How do you know what underlying health conditions Prince Charles and Camilla might have?

"LONDON, July 22 1964 The Prince of Wales, the 15‐year old heir to the British throne, was taken to a private hospital in Aberdeen tonight for treatment of pneumonia."

"Prince Charles was taken ill while camping with other boys from Gordonstoun School on the royal estate at Balmoral."

"The Prince travelled by automobile from Balmoral to the Watson Fraser Nursing Home in Aberdeen. It was reported there tonight that his condition was not serious."

"In February, 1962, Charles underwent an appendectomy, but he appears sturdy."

shortsaint · 25/03/2020 19:37

I was thinking today was this lockdown must be a bit like being a royal. No freedom, no able to wander the shops when they like. Life to a timetable

I expect people will say 'oh what do they know, they're rich etc' but I wouldn't swap in a million years. After all Charles should be retired now, and Queenie, she's in her 90s. Christ, give 'em a rest!

Also, it's Queen as Head of State or Boris 🤷‍♀️

LittleLittleLittle · 25/03/2020 19:45

@Beseen19 I would rather be seen by someone who has been on the coalface in the last year than someone in management. Then again I know healthcare professionals who are specialists but have gone into management or other none front-line hospital roles.

LittleLittleLittle · 25/03/2020 19:47

@shortsaint Queen is the off state but it is a mainly ceremonial role.

Boris is the first minister. He is first amongst equals which is why he shouldn't just have "yes" people as ministers and advisors.

Lucked · 25/03/2020 19:59

There isn’t a ban on over 70s getting ventilators. There are over 70s ventilated up and down the country at the moment.

I kind of think he is the heir to the throne and people just have to suck up that both he and Camilla where tested. They didn’t have to tell us that he had been tested or the result. If I was working in Aberdeen and there was the possibility that he might be admitted I would want to know - there are greater issues with privacy and security if he was to come in, particularly if they are busy. I hope he keeps well as I do almost every one who has the virus ( I am ambivalent as to how scumbags like Weinstein get on)

Lynda07 · 25/03/2020 20:36

choco: Testing Charles was not a priority when there aren't enough tests.
.........
There aren't enough tests in the NHS - or so we are told. Not all the tests were sold to the NHS, Charles & co would have had private ones.

chocoholico · 26/03/2020 07:32

There aren't enough tests in the NHS - or so we are told. Not all the tests were sold to the NHS, Charles & co would have had private ones.

news say he has been tested by the NHS services in Aberdeenshire. it was not a private test.

Beseen19 · 28/03/2020 04:54

@LittleLittleLittle I absolutely agree!

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 28/03/2020 05:08

No matter how much you dislike the royal family can you just be kind please? he's a 71YO who has been struck down by this awful virus.

So can all over 70s be tested then?

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/03/2020 05:08

I kind of think he is the heir to the throne and people just have to suck up that both he and Camilla where tested.

Why? I didn't vote for him. (Monty Python reference).
