Why is Prince Charles allowed to isolate

At his holiday home in the Highlands? Grin

If he was there already, hadn't we been asked not to do that?

I do wish him well but come on, one rule for one.....

OP posts:
StuntEgg · 25/03/2020 14:35

Are people missing the bit where it says he was already there before lockdown? So he’s done as he’s been asked and stayed where he is.

People were advised to stay where they were and not travel on Friday. He ignored this and travelled north on Sunday, so he could be here before the full lockdown. Same for his mother running off to Windsor. If the rumour that are of his staff are also infected is true, that's even more reckless.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 25/03/2020 14:36

He has not followed the rules. People were told not to travel to holiday or second homes, but to stay put. He ignored this and brought the virus to a rural area with limited resources.

I very much doubt he has been schlepping round Tescos coughing over the baked beans.

TheSpanielsBalls · 25/03/2020 14:37

He has followed the rules, he went to his second home prior to the rules being issued.

I bet he did. Almost like he knew they were coming... Grin

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 14:38

Why was he tested? The rest of us have to wait til deaths door.

daisypond · 25/03/2020 14:39

No, his staff will have been buying the baked beans for him, though, thus depriving the local population of their chance to get hold of them.

PureAlchemy · 25/03/2020 14:44

Isn’t it protocol for senior royals to be in separate locations at times like this?

I wonder if they brought a van full of non-perishable food up from London with them.

Atleastthedoglovesme · 25/03/2020 14:45

No matter how much you dislike the royal family can you just be kind please? he's a 71YO who has been struck down by this awful virus.

What's wrong with you people? He's someone's dad, someone's grandad and someone's son.

Some very nasty people in here when we should all be showing kindness instead. Shame on you.

Justmuddlingalong · 25/03/2020 14:48

Obviously picked up as he hunted for the bog roll in Lidl.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 25/03/2020 14:50

Do you not think there will be a whole pile of rich people doing what they want? Lets not turn this in to royal bashing. He is an older man with the virus. The end

dontstockpilethelooroll · 25/03/2020 14:50

Think it’s disgusting to choose to self isolate in an area that does not have much anyway . We are facing unique bloody challenges up here in that many, many people don’t live anywhere near bloody supermarkets . We don’t have corner shops everywhere - most of us are relying on one wee shop just now . We don’t have massive hospitals - there are two with level 3 beds, serving Aberdeenshire right up to Shetland . Several wee hospitals that will just stabilise and transfer . If that virus takes hold firmly up here we will be absolutely fucked .

In order to keep things going - and to prevent the spread - we need to not be adding additional people into the area at all - I fully support a doctor last night who said the A9 should be shut totally to non essential traffic, I’d go one bloody further and block all roads and motorways and bridges to non essential traffic . Police/military at town and village entrances turning you back if you don’t have a genuine need to be there , ie if your presence or service isn’t essential to life. Afaik from family, very isolated places eg Applecross have already taken care of this themselves , and quite rightly so .

I’m going to get a right kicking for saying that, I do genuinely wish him all the very best ... but having seen photos of some of the western islands trying to set up make shift camp bed hospitals in village halls, and knowing how extraordinarily hard it is to get ITU and HDU beds normally, it’s very difficult not to feel a bit angry about it all . Have friends who are on frontline - many friends - who feel the same .

chocoholico · 25/03/2020 15:04

*They always split up the royal family in times of crisis to ensure continuity should anything happens"

continuity of what? they do f* all and the country would be perfectly run without these entitled spongers.

agree, it's disgusting - one rule if some and another rule for others. chances are , he passed it on to people in Scotland.

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 15:13

I don’t wish him ill but I don’t want to be asked to think about his comfort when so many 70 year olds are going to be suffering hugely.

It just highlights what an outdated and unnecessary state funded group they are.

floffel · 25/03/2020 15:31

Completely agree with @chocoholico - this virus again shows the Royals in the spotlight - what benefit do they actually bring to the country? I’d vote them out tomorrow. It’s wrong in this day and age that you can only have a role because you were born to it. They are a complete anachronism

wowfudge · 25/03/2020 15:38

They have their own doctors. However much some of you dislike them, the Queen is Head of State and Charles is her heir. Of course he and his family will be tested if showing symptoms.

Justmuddlingalong · 25/03/2020 15:45

Over and above frontline medical staff? I'm meh about the royal family, but I cannot get my head round how unfair that is. What a kick in the teeth for those working their butts off trying to keep ill people alive.

tryingtoprep · 25/03/2020 15:52

Everything Atleadtthedoglovesmesays

Incidentally, London's already unable to cope. A 36 year old mother of three has died because of the pressures. A city of nearly 9 million with high density housing was always going to be more vulnerable than sparsely populated areas.

Beseen19 · 25/03/2020 16:05

Well when Prince Phillip required medical attention a few years ago he was taken to ARI, not treated privately at home. He was treated in a separate part of the hospital by all the higher band nurses who are normally in management roles. It sounds like he has taken it in a milder form and I really hope he recovers well at home. Bit annoying as a local though that if he does have breathing issues he is obviously guaranteed to get a ventilator above someone else more clinically likely to survive.

Mittens030869 · 25/03/2020 16:06

Why was he tested? The rest of us have to wait til death's door.

Yes, I was thinking that. I've been ill for over 2 weeks, been having coughing fits, chest pain, spiking temperature and virtually choking on my own sputum and unable to rest. I've been puking this week too.

I've been told that they're 'not testing in the community'. Charles and Camilla, though, get tested when he's having mild symptoms and she isn't having any symptoms at all.

I hope he gets well soon, though.

adayatthebeach · 25/03/2020 16:11

He can have his ventilator or mine! Do any of you know how hellish being on a vent is??? You constantly feel like your choking and have to be sedated and restrained so you don’t pull it out!

JustMySize · 25/03/2020 16:17

One rule for one and another rule for them.

FloconDeNeige · 25/03/2020 16:34

@Atleastthedoglovesme

Ah I see the ‘kind’ police have turned up, to patronisingly chastise worried people who are angry at effectively being forced to tug their forlocks in a life and death situation.

Don’t try to dismiss people’s legitimate anger by attempting to make them feel guilty.

fluffdeloop · 25/03/2020 16:39

you can buy private tests online theres quite a lot of places selling them if you want one.

daisypond · 25/03/2020 16:42

Public Health England says those tests have not been tested and no one knows if they are accurate. One Harley Street Doctor who was charging nearly £400 for one has stopped selling them.
