Who is drinking more?

Cocoandclive27 · 24/03/2020 19:19

Drinking so much more at home. Stressed, anxious and bored. Seems like opening a bottle is something to look forward to.

Usually only drink at weekends but every day feels like the weekend now all routine is gone.

I'm confident it won't become a problem but I'll probably put on a few lbs at least!

Anyone else?

Is wine an essential grocery item?!

I think we would have Boris' understanding if we ventured out for it!

delilahbucket · 24/03/2020 21:03

Yes, and more so because my wedding is going down the pan so I'm very much "fuck it I don't have anything to look good for now". This week I'm making more of an effort to just do two or three days. Last week was ridiculous but it was a crutch for my increasing stress levels. This week I've accepted I probably won't get married this year and I'm desperately trying to hold on to my business, so it's very tough to not reach for booze or chocolate.

thepeopleversuswork · 24/03/2020 21:04

Me! I drank three glasses on my own last night which is almost unheard of (and to be honest is shook me up a bit that I could do that). Very rarely drink in the week nowadays unless I'm going out and even on a night out that would be a lot for me.

It's partly the stress and the boredom. I also blame all these online pub parties/pub quizzes -- they bring out the worst in me.

Pinkarsedfly · 24/03/2020 21:05

🙋🏼‍♀️

troppibambini · 24/03/2020 21:06

I have been but tonight I'm not. I'm not getting into the habit of a glass or two every night.
One I will get fat (I need to lose a bit anyway)
Two my dad was an alcoholic and the idea of needing alcohol fucking petrifies me.

CoalHouseDoor · 24/03/2020 21:11

No. I gave up for Lent and I’m not sure I could deal with the stress of suddenly running an online business and a host of other challenges with a hangover.

I’m also watching my lovely friend becoming more and more anxious and drinking earlier and earlier and genuinely not seeing a connection between the two.

Her DH is worried; I am so torn about saying anything.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 24/03/2020 21:14

Yes and I'm annoyed with myself as I had three weeks off prior to this all kicking off and felt the benefits. I know a lot of big drinkers who are drinking a lot every night at the moment. It doesn't help that it feels like the weekend every day and I am a bit stressed.

Ontheboardwalk · 24/03/2020 21:19

Me because I’m not driving in the morning, this is what stops me drinking during the week

ScatteredMama82 · 24/03/2020 21:31

Yes! Wine every night. I blame DH - he usually works away Mon-Fri so we associate him being home with it being the weekend, therefore we crack open a bottle. We need to stop, I said that to him tonight (as I poured our wine) lol.

feelingverylazytoday · 24/03/2020 21:33

No, I've decided to be teetotal for the duration, to boost my immune system.

DramaAlpaca · 24/03/2020 21:34

Yes, and I can already feel it on my waistline. I need to have a word with myself.

womaninatightspot · 24/03/2020 21:36

Me too. Definitely slugging back a half bottle of wine per evening normally lucky if I drank a bottle a week. Maybe Joe Wicks will save me from getting excessively lardy though :)

IronNeonClasp · 24/03/2020 21:43

Not me. Gave up in early January (for good) and so glad I did. Timing is fabtastic.

Just started to find my drinking a bit 'unmanageable' shall we say. I would have been a complete mess - no open pubs and wondering where my next fix was going to come from - complete trauma. Apparently the shelves are empty in Tesco and Sainsbury's where I am.

Feel fantastic given the current situation. I would have been a complete mess by now.. In fact I don't even want to imagine the state I would have been..

Cheers Wink Brew

Carbosug · 24/03/2020 21:49

Yep. Member of local drama group and normally out 3 nights a week at rehearsals plus often drive to meet a friend at nearby cinema. Stuck at home now and by six o clock the first of 2 large glasses of wine is being poured.

LuckyAmy1986 · 24/03/2020 21:49

It's hard, drink definitley helps to relax me but there is no way I want to be drinking every night, not a good habit to get into. I am going at least 2 days in between, and on those evenings just have something else to distract me. Like a cup of tea, or brushing my teeth early.

Nothing is better for taking your mind off it all though (for me personally)

HoneyBee03 · 24/03/2020 22:04

Definitely! I've been drinking every day, it keeps me going when I get bored of the four walls.

TurquoiseDress · 24/03/2020 22:11

Yep same here, am having a glass of wine most evenings!

And I'd done so well with (mostly) dry January!

Bouledeneige · 24/03/2020 22:21

Yes last week I drank a lot of wine - much more than usual. It was coping with the news. Got through a few bottles. But I've stopped now till I have my Skype dates later in the week with a couple of pals. I found I was feeling more down when I woke up after drinking.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 24/03/2020 22:39

@ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule I hear you! This was happening to me (minus the drinking as I’m ill a the mo) and I’ve really cut back on listening to the news, radio etc and it seems to help my anxiety. Try and read a good book, or watch something trashy in the telly to distract your mind. Hope you feel alright soon xx

TawnyPippit · 24/03/2020 22:50

Me. But I had a word with myself as I could see that I was sliding in to a habit of a couple of glasses every night. Last week was pretty exceptional though, but I realised there is now a new normal and I need better habits for that, so back to weekends only. Completely understand where people are coming from and deffo not a finger wagging post.

MajesticWhine · 24/03/2020 22:52

yep. Have had a glass (or two) of wine the last 3 nights, when normally I wouldn't have a drop on a work night. Ah well.

Drybird2020 · 24/03/2020 22:56

Not me. I quit drinking at the end of last year and am so glad I did. Booze made me anxious and messed with my sleep, I'd be a mess if I was still using it now.

justasking111 · 24/03/2020 23:01

No but am sorely tempted, I use small tulip glasses for my glass of wine rather than the lovely big ones, it would aggravate my stomach/gerd anyway and I don`t need that. Conscious of putting on weight through inactivity, keep meaning to do some videos but OH being here am too self conscious.

squishedgrapes · 24/03/2020 23:07

I am and struggling to,get back on track. Today was a bad day, with ex sending me abusive messages and my daughter has now developed a fever. I on,y have enough milk for 4 days, and no delivery to arrive I
Until 4 th April, which I know I'm lucky to have. Sick of self isolation
