A million thanks to anyone who volunteers for this

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 16:44

People are to treat the lockdown as rules not requests

Thank you to everyone incl pharmacists and paramedics and others that aren't just frontline nurses and doctors

Over 11k have answered the call to return to work. How amazing is that?

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 16:47

Question:

Ppl being told to go to work even if not essential worker. Who do they listen to?

Answer:

MH - stay at home unless you have one of the four reasons. To go to work where the work can't be done at home or if you are a key worker then you should go to work

Jenny dCMO - prevent transmission is the purpose. 2m rule is essential. Numerous occupations where you do not need to be at work. Some you do, and we recognise key workers . Employers should be innovative but also spread people around.

Yes I think the emergency legislation has to be passed first then we get added onto the NMC register then get notified.

Babyroobs · 24/03/2020 16:50

I have just received my comfy Clarks work shoes. Hope I can wear them , as in they meet any regulations. !

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 16:50

Question about a sick toddler and who cares for them ? Safety at work?

If ppl don't feel safe in work they should raise this. Majority of employers being responsive. Obviously some environments more risky and staff should be supported to understand this and how they are helped.
Can't legislate for every single type of workplace. Maintain distance and hand washing - Jenny

That new hospital is one of the huge emergency hospitals seen during the Spanish Flu.

If we now require this sort of hospital (and it is not a hospital in the sense we are familiar with - as far as medical care goes) as well as the army on that hospital site (and other sites), then this is much, much, much worse than we are seeing or being told in explicit terms.

Matt Hancock is choosing his words particularly carefully.

Foobydoo · 24/03/2020 16:54

Where is Chris Witty again?

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 16:54

Adults unable to look after a small child - exceptional circumstances. Something to do with local hubs? Didn't get this.

Why so keen for non key workers to go to work if they can't work at home?

What about b/g friends who don't live together? Can they meet? Can they be affectionate in public?

Answers:

In most work places the 2m rule can be applied. Work from home where can. Employers should enforce the rules. (Mh)

Principle is to stay in family unit as exposure risk is pretty equal. If I'm separate households ideally you should stay in them. Alternatively test the strength of the relationship and try living together. Do not want people switching in and out of households. Stay with one and keep it that way. (Jenny)

Exactly. It seems almost certain that Chris Whitty is ill. Price Charles also remains missing.

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 16:57

Q on building work? Why different to Scotland which banned it? Is it because of Boris' mates?

Q on anti malaria tabs which Donald T has suggested may help?

A

Everything is cross party and we are trying to tackle the virus and get through this as fast as possible.

Tube - should be spaced out and 2m apart. No reason why current levels of tube provision can't increase as they are too low.

Construction can carry on with people 2m apart.

It's incredibly and utterly amazing. It's things like this, and all the volunteers too, that restore some faith in humanity. Altruism at its finest.

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 17:00

Q on testing?
Is this the antibody test that's been ordered? Will NHS staff be first in line?
Could recent spike in deaths have been prevented if lockdown sooner? (The Guardian)

A

Understand nhs staff concerns. 3.5 m tests ordered of antibody test.
Nadine Dorries now immune and he sat next to her the other day.
Online soon - new testing facility in M Keynes opens today.

Honestly full of awe for people who have agreed to return. Many of whom will be older.

Not sure why it is believed things are being hidden. The death rate is being reported, we know what happened in Italy and we know we are tracking the contagion and death rate. The country is locked down, with police out. They’ve announced they are building this facility.

What’s being hidden, what’s not explicit? It’s really bad but short of filming from inside hospitals and broadcasting it daily - not entirely sure what is wanted in the interest of being ‘explicit’.

Michaelbaubles · 24/03/2020 17:03

Oh fuck, if Nadine Dorries is immune, does she become Prime Minister when the rest of them succumb?

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 17:03

7.5m pieces of PPE esp FFP3 masks now shifted out. Hotline for nhs and pharmacy to call - military effort literally to get this going.

(Mh)

Testing will also in due course give insight into population demographic. Tool for the end of the epidemic to help close it down.

Working really hard to ramp up the here and now testing. Goes back to nhs staff knowing if they do or don't have it. Not there yet.

Any death is a sad event. Difficult to start comparing countries and their death rates and impacts of various lockdowns.

We have systematically put in steps to control the virus.

babychange12 · 24/03/2020 17:04

Apparently designated survivor is Dominic raab

SouthWestmom · 24/03/2020 17:05

That is Jenny dCMO speaking.

If everyone complied with instructions we are hoping death rates stays low. We will ouch epidemic forward and push through quicker. Jenny

Testing is very important First patients then nhs staff.
