We’re expecting 1000 kids!

So, we are going to be a hub school for FSM and childcare.

We are expecting 1000 children in, due to all of the local schools sending their children to us, keeping one building open.

The children will not be learning it has been confirmed. It is child care only.

Please, do not use the school childcare services unless absolutely necessary.

How the hell are you going to keep that many separated sufficiently to minimise spread of infection?! Madness!

OhhhPeee · 21/03/2020 20:39

How many schools will they be coming from?

DBML · 21/03/2020 20:39

I have no idea.

Barbie222 · 21/03/2020 20:40

Goodness, we are keeping ours in groups of 15 to minimise contact!

Smellbellina · 21/03/2020 20:41

WTF???!

DBML · 21/03/2020 20:41

They will be all of the local primary schools and year 7 of the secondary’s. It’s a city with huge numbers of deprived children.

That is ridiculous and totally defeats the whole purpose of closing schools. Can you tip off the press? Get some media coverage of the situation?

KittenVsBox · 21/03/2020 20:43

How big is the school????
There is no way segregation is going to work.

Good luck to you all GinGinGin

Matildathehun77 · 21/03/2020 20:43

That sounds like a ridiculous plan, they need more hubs. We're expecting 40-50 children, probably in 4 small groups.
Although plans seem to be changing on an hourly basis at the moment so your 1000 could turn out quite differently by Monday.

Bluewavescrashing · 21/03/2020 20:43

It'll be a melting pit of germs with that number.

I can't believe people would rather send their DCs to school than entertain them at home if they have any choice. Stop being lazy and parent your own kids if you don't work!

Eggcited · 21/03/2020 20:43

1000 children in one school is hugely irresponsible.

The point is to reduce numbers.

Littletabbyocelot · 21/03/2020 20:43

That's awful. I'm so sorry, for you, the children and their parents.

Harpingon · 21/03/2020 20:43

A disaster waiting to happen.

Bluewavescrashing · 21/03/2020 20:43

Melting pot. Sorry

DBML · 21/03/2020 20:43

I’m hoping the numbers we expect will not materialise.

Smithtylater · 21/03/2020 20:43

My friend told me the same. She works in a local authority nursery and is expected on Monday to work at a local school which is taking nearly 300 kids from several primary schools and nurseries in the area (SE London). Its madness...

slipperywhensparticus · 21/03/2020 20:43

Our school wont take all of them they are assessing them and prioritise them by need

thetwinkletoescollective · 21/03/2020 20:45

This might be the best thing you experience in your whole career. Who knows what relationships you will develop and what you will learn?

This is history now.

Harpingon · 21/03/2020 20:46

I would separate the HCW children from the others so they don't infect their parents or we will end up with no doctors or nurses.

DBML · 21/03/2020 20:46

@Smithtylater

Yes, I’ve heard the same about a vast number of schools.

I’m hoping FSM will get their lunch and leave. I’m hoping plans change as they realise how ridiculous this is.

@Matildathehun77

Yes, we’re hoping new emails will bring refined info.

Eggcited · 21/03/2020 20:48

This might be the best thing you experience in your whole career.

Or it could lead to many unnecessary deaths. Hmm

DBML · 21/03/2020 20:48

@thetwinkletoescollective

To be honest, I’m not looking to form new relationships at the moment. I’m trying to social distance 😂

OP posts:
SapphireSalute · 21/03/2020 20:48

this will be our downfall

mrshoho · 21/03/2020 20:50

Shock I really didnt think it would be organised in this way. I've got teenagers so they'll be at home but surely having so many people together is a no no

fedup21 · 21/03/2020 20:51

That is dreadful. How is that complying with the social distancing regs!?
