Aibu to ask Is catching the virus an inevitability or can you fend it off by taking loads of vitamins etc?

I am taking tons of supplements at the moment including extra vitamin c, zinc etc. Pointless exercise or worth doing?

I know because it’s a new virus we have no Immunity to it so does that mean we have to catch it? Or will some people be able to fend it off?

There’s loads of videos going round of seriously ill people in their 30s and 40s on ventilators and it’s freaking me out (have stopped watching now!)

I’m just confused by it all!

No it's not inevitable. You can protect yourself by following social distancing/isolation as much as you are able to and following the instructions re handwashing and other hygiene measures. Look after your immune system through the usual measures - healthy diet, rest, exercise and some sunlight (while maintaining social distancing).

There are likely to be some people who have natural immunity. But we wouldn't have a clue who those people are or, right now, why that would be the case. So that wont help anyone. Just keep following the advice of scrupulous hand hygiene and social distancing - only go out when you have to!
