Booked in hairdressers...would you cancel ?

I'm booked in next week.
They have just put a post up on Facebook saying they are coronavirus free and pleading with customers to still come.
It's a family business etc
What would you do?
My brain is saying cancel.

Yes of course you should cancel.

babychange12 · 20/03/2020 22:10

Cancel

MaggieFS · 20/03/2020 22:12

I'm going to cancel my appointment for next week. It's not essential, and the fewer people we each have contact with the better for everyone. I possibly wouldn't have said that a few days ago, but seeing the stats coming from Italy and how important it is we all do what we can, it's the only responsible option.

Wallowinginfilth · 20/03/2020 22:12

Aren't they closing anyway? Sutely they count as a shop?
No-one can know if Coronavirus free, some people are asymptomatic.

ohnoitsnot · 20/03/2020 22:13

Cancel your appointment ( you don't need nice hair to sit on your sofa) but pay them anyway

BIWI · 20/03/2020 22:13

Definitely cancel. My hairdressers called me today to say they'd been told they had to close.

Lifeisabeach09 · 20/03/2020 22:15

The stylist might cough into your new 'do and then, before you know it, you're SOB all over the place.

#Non-essential contact
#Self-isolation

universalengine · 20/03/2020 22:17

If this goes on for the expected months and months we're all going to look (as well as feel) dreadful!

SoupDragon · 20/03/2020 22:18

Small family business - I would cancel but offer to pay anyway.

mdh2020 · 20/03/2020 22:20

I cancelled my appointment. To be fair, the hairdresser offered to come round if I get desperate and give me a hair cut at home. I plan to let my hair grow. I can’t colour it myself so I will also find out how grey I really am.i

Fortheselfemployed · 20/03/2020 22:24

I'm going tomorrow, we are not in total lockdown yet, kids were at school until 5pm tonight- I'm sure some will think it's reckless but as I will continue going to work for the rest of this outbreak (God willing I don't catch it) to keep you and yours safe and well - I feel it's a risk worth taking in a small town.

Toothsil · 20/03/2020 22:25

I've cancelled my appointment for tomorrow, it's not worth the risk.

SoupDragon · 20/03/2020 22:38

I will continue going to work for the rest of this outbreak (God willing I don't catch it) to keep you and yours safe and well

How do you reconcile "to keep you and yours safe and well" with "fuck social distancing, I want nice hair"?

thepeopleversuswork · 20/03/2020 22:41

Yes FFS cancel!

Llyn · 20/03/2020 22:42

I cancelled an haircut a week ago. Why is this taking people so long to get their heads round? Stay. At. Home.

EarlGreyT · 20/03/2020 22:44

Of course you should cancel.

Which part of going to the hairdressers is classified as an “essential social contact”.

LizziesTwin · 20/03/2020 22:44

Cancel.

mamansnet · 20/03/2020 22:44

I'd ask if they could go mobile and come to you instead. Still a risk, but less so.

pinkpolo · 20/03/2020 22:46

Definitely cancel. I don't understand why hairdressers are still open 🤯

Serenschintte · 20/03/2020 22:49

How do they know they are virus free - have they had a test?
In Europe they have closed ever shop except supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies. Butchers and some restaurants are offering deliver.
Everything else including parks is shut. Public transport is reduced. If walking people have to be 2 meters away from each other or be fine. I’m in Switzerland by the way. Our measures are less strict than Italy, France, Spain. The numbers in the UK are only a few behind Switzerland and a Switzerland is a bit behind Italy etc.
It’s not worth it.

indemMUND · 20/03/2020 22:53

It's not essential. Come on.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/03/2020 22:53

Cancel.

We’ve been asked to socially distance. You cannot is that if you’re mixing with people who don’t live in your household,

Ffs 🤦‍♀️

goldface · 20/03/2020 22:57

Cancel.
Every non essential contact increases the risk and prolongs the problem.
Don't justify non essential stuff because you have to do essential stuff.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/03/2020 22:58

No risks are worth taking. We need to minimise them all.
