What are you doing a out Mother's Day?

Just that really. My parents are fit and active and determined to carry on as normal, with some precautions, for as long as possible.

All the instructions seem to be that we should stay away but....I'm not even sure what the but is, it just feels all wrong.

I'm genuinely surprised at how many people care that much about Mothers Day to be honest. You know what the guidance is. I'll send my mum a card and a gift or just drop off.

I won't be going anywhere near my parents. I'm self isolating because I have a cough and I don't think I'll even send a card in case I infect them via it!

Dropped of cards /present for mine last week, when the kids said bye. We've been distancing since then. Will Skype on sun.

Presume kids and dh will arrange breakfast/lunch at home for me.

It's a bit sad but what we all need to do (other than key workers, that are doing a great job and probably working through)

I left my mum's card & present on her door step, Dh sent his mum flowers & card through the post, DD will probably make me a card. Mother's Day done.

We'll probably FaceTime each other on Sunday. Would we normally see our mums? Yes. Would we be stupid enough to go out this year? No.

We plan to leave a card and present in the garden and wave at them through the window. Maybe a 10 min wave. It's for their own safety.

Both DS currently home. Both internet savvy, therefore could order stuff online. 100% nothing has been ordered. Guess I’ll be cooking as usual.

Making dinner at home. If we're allowed to go out we might go for a walk in the open - on the fields rather than in a park.

Im video calling my mum. I actual dont have a card sent so left that too late (as I thought it was Sunday week.)

No clue what my family will do. I'm not hugely pushed on the day but do like a gesture from my children (my favourite is something like making N effort to not squabble).

Why does it feel wrong following government health advice?
Yes, its mothers day but come on - its one day. You can celebrate it another time when this is over. Surely better to keep your mum safe than risk her life for the sake of a hallmark card day???

dropping off a card and present and buying the Downton Abbey film on my Amazon video account which she can access to watch at home.

At home the kids will make me cards and we will bake cupcakes.

Earlier DD asked me what I want for Mother’s Day, I said that seeing as there’s not much we can do I really like DH and you to clean my car and hoover inside it. She was a bit Hmm I think she was hoping I’d just tell her to make me a card.

At the absolute most we will get a takeaway form the pub. Earlier in the week I put a card in the post with a heart shaped chocolate lolly inside, just in case I wouldn't see her.
We are now self isolating so I am glad I did.

I have sent a card to my DM, she was due to be visiting my sibling and his family but that was called off a week ago. I am going to warn her to wear gloves or wash hands after opening card since who knows who has handled it, and I forgot to wash my hands before I wrote it. It isn't a mother's day card as such, I did not want to make an non essential trip to shop to get one.

I have my mum her gift last weekend as I was supposed to be going on holiday tomorrow, but it's been cancelled of course. I won't be seeing her Sunday and she knows that and agrees. Have a Skype call or something.

Was doing afternoon tea for my mum and sister and niece at my house. Have now cancelled. I’m 38 weeks pregnant and can’t risk me or my DH getting sick. 😖

I've sent a card and ordered flowers. Royal mail says that coronaviruses don't live long enough on cards and paper for it to be a risk, although I did wet my finger with tap water to seal it, like a lunatic.

The best thing I can do is keep away from my mum and not expose her to unnecessary risk. I do feel sad though. We had booked a table in a lovely restaurant here and she was coming through for that and also to see a musical performance, now cancelled, that the dcs were supposed to have been in. The weekend is looking very different from how it did a month ago.

I'm going to see my mum. We usually make a big deal of Mother's Day, weekend away etc but obviously we'll just be at home, she isn't high risk but my dad is. However, as he has been going to the pub and gym I'm not missing seeing my mum.

Sent MIL's card through the post, will drop off my mum's card through their letter box and have told DH and DCs just be lovely to have some breakfast in bed and be together.

No one should be visiting their elderly parents I believe.

We have sent the card to MIL and will drive up to her on Sinday and leave the hanging baskets/patio pots we have bought her in the garden. I may take a flask of coffee and sit at her garden table for a while. It will be incredibly hard to converse from a distance as she's rather deaf, probably just smile and wave, smile and wave.

I wasn't going to see my mum anyway. But me and DS are going to play Nintendo switch and maybe play table tennis, definitely having a thai curry.
