Just that really. My parents are fit and active and determined to carry on as normal, with some precautions, for as long as possible.

All the instructions seem to be that we should stay away but....I'm not even sure what the but is, it just feels all wrong.

If you want to enjoy Mother’s Day go ahead as your actions might make it your last!

I can’t see my mum anyway as she lives too far away. I’ve already ordered some flowers and posted a card and I’ll call her to say hello.
Dh has done nothing for his mum Hmm

My parents are very elderly and i actually shed a tear as I bought my mother's day card as it might be her last one. She herself said it would be 'sensible' not to get together which of course I respect. We will have a chat on the phone.

No idea what my teenage DS will do for me - fortunately I am not that bothered personally, will just be happy to have him back safe from uni ....... until my empty nest is a mess again Grin.

Staying at home with DC - will go and collect DM to join us
Providing we all stay well

Just think about how much more special Mothers Day will be in 2021 when this is all over. Like birthdays, anniversaries, Easter and Christmas this year let’s all agree to postpone them all and celebrate big time next year. They won’t be so special if some of our loved ones are missing because we didn’t think the rules applied to us.
China have lied about the realities of this virus. Take a look at Italy for the truth.

ShanghaiDiva · 20/03/2020 19:42

China has not lied. They locked down and had severe penalties for non compliance.
Look to the far east to see how to mange the crisis: Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore.

I’m keeping the hell away from my mum as I don’t want to blame myself if anything happens to her.

Even if she went down with something and I’d put her card through the letterbox I’d blame myself and regret the card in case it was germy.

Staying away is showing my love for her!

We’ve already agreed to postpone it to the first Sunday after the madness is over. Even if that means next year!!
God what a thought. Sigh.

willdoitinaminute · 20/03/2020 20:19

I’m not talking about numbers but about the reality of the disease it causes.

ShanghaiDiva · 20/03/2020 20:23

They did not lie about the reality of the disease. We chose to ignore what was happening and for some bizarre reason thought we were untouchable.

We've sent some stuff to MIL. My mum is dead. I'll get a card and box of chocolates from the kids. I imagine I'll go for a run and down the allotment for a bit and spend the rest of the time playing with them in the garden.
