Please look out for this pasta, bit desperate!

A friend’s son has severe autism, and with it he has an incredibly limited diet. One thing he’ll eat is this specific pasta, but of course his family can’t find it anywhere 😔

Please if anyone could look out for it and buy to send to them they’d be so grateful!

Finally got a reply from Tesco, they know they’ve got some in stores but they can’t tell me which stores. They know it’s not any in my or his Mum’s areas but that’s all. 😔

If your friend currently has some, could she not buy same shaped pasta and transfer to the old packet?

SilverySurfer · 21/03/2020 15:14

oh ignore my post I missed yours saying he recognised the difference.

SilverySurfer · 21/03/2020 15:16

I've just checked my Tesco online and that one is not even listed. Good luck tracking it down.

browzingss · 21/03/2020 16:12

To be honest even if Tesco told you which stores have some available, chances are it would sell out before you (or a proxy) would be able to get there. People are literally stripping pasta shelves bare.

Some Tesco finest items are replicated in M & S there was a big hoo haa years ago about some squash in one of their stores with the wrong branding on the cap if I recall correctly
I cannot remember what M & S call their finest range but I do know for a fact that M & S definitely had the exact same range of lower fat ready meals as Tesco finest a few years ago when I was on a diet. It might be worth looking in store as they have apparently suspended their home delivery service

LeniSpring · 22/03/2020 10:22

It has to be that specific brand? Mine would be going hungry then fuck that

I presume none of your children are autistic. How long would you let your child go hungry for?

OP I hope your friend manages to acquire enough. I have an autistic ds who will only eat 9 specific foods and it is worrying.

Wish I'd seen this before. There were two packets of this in my Tesco on Friday - the only packets of pasta in the shop. Will keep an eye out next time I go.

FuckWhenDidIGetOld · 22/03/2020 10:35

Yes because it's just as simple as that Leni

firstdatesfear · 22/03/2020 10:42

An autistic child will starve themselves to death if necessary, so it’s about getting them the food they’ll eat, ideally with as many nutrients in it as possible, and keeping their food options as wide as possible for as long as possible In order to keep them healthy. Even more so at the moment with NHS resources so stretched and food choices so limited.

Yes please ByAppointmentTo that’s very promising!!

Sorry don't have any, but will look for it every time I do a shop in Tesco, plus ask my mum to look for it each time she goes into Tesco. Will contact you to post any that we find.

My son has ASD, ARFID and sensory processing disfunction. He has a very limited diet and significant mental health issues. I know many families are struggling, whether they have a disabled child, a keyworker who they are worried about, job and income losses, elderly relatives in poor health etc. Everyone must help each other xxx

Going into Tesco today , will look.

MissFlite · 22/03/2020 10:56

Perhaps post on Little Blue Cup? It was a site set up by dad of an autistic boy who needed a specific blue cup to drink from. This is just the sort of this they do.

Elouera · 22/03/2020 10:59

Have they tried the food swapping site OLIO? People offer up various food items they no longer need, cannot use the whole packet etc. Might be worth a try. Otherwise, what other things does he eat?

I was in a smaller sainsburys express today and amazed to find pasta (a different shape though), pasta sauce, rice and all manner of things I hadn't seen for ages in the larger stores. Can only suggest rining around the largish tesco stores that have a finest range and might still have some.

firstdatesfear · 22/03/2020 14:34

Thanks for the input everyone! I have already suggested little blue cup to his mum so we’ll see. I’m not sure if his exact list of foods tbh, I just know it’s incredibly limited.
