Please look out for this pasta, bit desperate!

A friend’s son has severe autism, and with it he has an incredibly limited diet. One thing he’ll eat is this specific pasta, but of course his family can’t find it anywhere 😔

Please if anyone could look out for it and buy to send to them they’d be so grateful!

Bump

Michelleoftheresistance · 19/03/2020 18:52

I'll share that as widely as I can, hopefully someone has some in a cupboard somewhere!

Sophinwonderland · 19/03/2020 19:26

Might be worth them getting in touch with their local store and asking if they can put some aside for them due to their autistic child, I know they’re very busy but to many autistic children lack of usual foods will result in them starving themselves and Tesco has been known to help families in getting obsolete cups/toys for autistic children where one they’ve had for years has worn out or broken so they may be sympathetic x

mrssmiling · 19/03/2020 19:36

Might be worth trying this company...the website doesn't say out of stock.
limoncello.co.uk/products/fusilli-lunghi-bucati-n-5-by-de-cecco-500g
There is a telephone number...they are in Cambridge but do mail order.

Only other thought would be asking local Italian restaurants if they might possibly have some in stock that they could buy? Good luck.

goingoverground · 19/03/2020 19:49

I don't have any but the commonly stocked brand de Cecco and Garafolo make fusilli lunghi so you could try other supermarkets. I think Ocado (when they are back up) stock them and Waitrose.

Excited101 · 19/03/2020 20:34

Unfortunately it needs to be this exact Tesco finest one, in this packet as it comes. Anything else will be spotted and rejected 😔 thanks for the help!!

thatgingergirl · 19/03/2020 20:43

Might it be possible to decant a lookalike into an empty Tesco packet?

sam221 · 19/03/2020 21:06

Maybe try tesco customer service number, they may or may not be able to help.
If I go out, I will look for you too.

Alb1 · 19/03/2020 21:09

Were abouts in the county are you? I don’t have any, but I’m wondering if it’s worth sharing on local Facebook groups here

SirVixofVixHall · 19/03/2020 21:12

I will look if it is available to me in my local one.
Also tweet head office ? I imagine they would love to help if they can.

Darbs76 · 19/03/2020 21:13

Will keep a look out

PerkingFaintly · 19/03/2020 21:14

OP, maybe ask MNHQ to edit your thread title to include the exact name of the pasta? Will help direct the right people to the thread

Just click report on your post.

Good luck to your friend.

firstdatesfear · 20/03/2020 22:15

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately they have tried putting it in the ‘correct’ packet and it was sniffed out so no can do... I have tweeted Tesco but no luck yet- I guess they’re a bit too busy atm.

Hope you can locate some
My eldest has asd and arfid and this situation is causing us massive stress our Tesco order was cancelled today and we are running low on her accepted foods it’s a nightmare

TackyTriceratops · 20/03/2020 22:22

Definitely write an email or many to Tesco's as I'm sure this is going to be an issue for many. And they can tell the difference!

Contact the NAS and raise it as a potential needed news / campaign item.

Mumof1andacat · 20/03/2020 22:25

Put a post on your local Facebook community area page then encourage the post to be shared. Good luck

OnUp · 20/03/2020 22:26

Look if facebook has a local community covid response group. Very very helpful responses and posts on our local one

fruitybum · 20/03/2020 22:29

Bumping. I'd of helped but our local supermarkets are all out of almost everything Angry so bloody unfair. I'm struggling for pasta that my asd son will only eat and ended up having to buy a pasta turn to go on our kitchen aid then chop it up. Who knows if it'll taste the same but needs must and money I can't really afford.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 20/03/2020 22:29

I'm S.I. but I'll pass it round and see if my family spot it.

EscapingSoon · 20/03/2020 22:33

I have some but it's been opened, only a little has been used. You're very welcome to it if it helps. Happy to post it to you

Atthebottomofthegarden · 20/03/2020 22:50

I have some too but only about 100g. PM me if you don’t get any better offers, I’m happy to post it.

I quite like it but family complain it is too hard to eat! 🙄

thecapitalsunited · 20/03/2020 22:58

If they get hold of some they should try to get as many bags as possible. Supermarkets are reducing the number of lines to increase productivity. Every time they change bag sizes or pasta snap the line has to be shut down so they’ll be making more of the bigger bags of the most popular shapes. Same goes for all the other product lines where you have a lot of choice (sausages etc), Unfortunately this means people who need the niche products won’t be able to get them.

browzingss · 20/03/2020 23:02

Yes, the PP is correct. Tesco’s suppliers will be focused on making the most popular lines and discontinuing the more niche options - so instead of 20 different pasta shapes there may only be 5 (as an example).

As far as what you should do in this situation, I’m not sure? Is your friend’s son under specialist NHS care? It’s very hard but he will otherwise starve if he can’t bring himself to eat anything else so she should certainly seek medical guidance

Surly · 20/03/2020 23:06

My tesco has been empty the past week but I will keep a lookout and happy to post it if I find any

Anniecott · 21/03/2020 00:00

Sorry I can't help but do put a shout out on your local fb groups, I just have for my ASD sons pasta and I have now 3 bags coming to me tomorrow and some tinned toms so as I can finally make him some bolognese. Some people are wonderful. Good luck. X
