Who is losing their appetite?

AbsentmindedWoman · 19/03/2020 17:51

I'm forcing down smaller amounts decent food to keep myself going, but honestly amazed at how little interest I have in eating. While at the same time worrying in case we run out if eg sick and weakened at home for a long time.

I do tend to lose my appetite in high stress situations but usually only for a couple of days. This time I just can't ever imagine going out for dinner and enjoying a wonderful meal again, usually a great pleasure. Purely anxiety related as I've noticed after I have a glass of wine in the evening I relax and can eat more, as long as it's something light.

Anyone else similar?

Me too. I usually don't lose it ever. If anything I'm someone who is closer to a comfort eater :(

Titslikepicassos · 19/03/2020 17:52

The complete opposite - I’ve eaten 6 custard slices in 2 days 😭

Candyfloss99 · 19/03/2020 17:53

Yes total knots in my stomach not knowing what is happening so can hardly eat at all.

sergeantmajor · 19/03/2020 17:53

It's the first time I've ever lost my appetite. Forcing myself to eat for my health.

Cornettoninja · 19/03/2020 17:55

Yeah my appetite has been non existent since Friday.

Tbh I could stand to lose a bit anyway but I would have preferred a dose of norovirus....

@Cornettoninja thank you for making me Grin

I agree, and didn't think I'd see the day noro would be the preferred option.

My appetite for good food is gone but my appetite for chocolate and crisps is ten fold. Then again Maybe if I stopped eating said chocolate and crisps I would feel like proper food.

Lycidas · 19/03/2020 18:06

No appetite but comfort/habit eating :(

Cornettoninja · 19/03/2020 18:32

@AbsentmindedWoman lovely to know I’ve cheered someone up a little bit Smile Flowers

Aufgehts · 19/03/2020 18:46

Yes, definitely. It's partly because we're self isolating for 14 days at home and I've gone from 10-15k steps per day down to about 2-3k (according to fitbit) so less energy expenditure.

But also partly because I'm absolutely obsessed with how much food we have at home and there being enough for my little one (and my husband who is stressing me the fuck out with how cavalier he's being with our food stock).

It's a bad combo. I'm also breastfeeding round the clock because my toddler is unsettled, ill and cooped up and has reverted to feeding like a newborn so I'm just drained.

Cornettoninja · 19/03/2020 18:51

@aufgehts that sounds really tough. My dd always used me as her first option for comfort and at the best of times it can be stifling. Please try and eat some stodge though, you need some reserves for yourself.

I sympathise with the food stock taking though - my DP is the same.

sunshinemachine · 19/03/2020 18:52

no appetite here

forgetthehousework · 19/03/2020 18:56

No appetite at all, not even chocolate. Stress always gets me like this.

treedragon · 19/03/2020 18:57

THIS!

And I only have to cough and I am getting bothered.

Anyone else more heightened to how they "feel"?

feelingverylazytoday · 19/03/2020 19:07

Yes, me. At the same time I feel hungry.
I think it's like Aufghets says though, I've suddenly become aware that food is a precious commodity, and the longer I can make it last the fewer times I need to go to the shop and therefore reducing my risks of becoming infected. I've had to ration food before though due to poverty and it actually becomes a challenge to me, making me feel tougher and mentally strong.

Aufgehts · 19/03/2020 19:16

@Cornettoninja

Thanks for being so kind, I'll deffo get some stodge in me tonight. :)

TheMemoryLingers · 19/03/2020 19:19

Yes - I feel constantly nervy and on edge, which is the one state that curbs my appetite. It will do me no harm, blubbery blob that I am.

MoonBaby1 · 19/03/2020 19:21

Not so much as loosing my appetite rather than being scared of getting food poisoning and ending up in hospital and out of isolation (day 6). I have big anxiety around food poisoning and ended up not gaining much in my first pregnancy because of it. POSs anxiety but I’ve never looked into it.

SlothTamer · 19/03/2020 19:32

I've got a reduced appetite too. Very unlike my usual greedy self. Just feel like a ball of tension and anxiety.

theneverendinglaundry · 19/03/2020 19:44

Yes me too. Feel sick with nerves and worry. Can't stop crying. Am struggling to hold it together for the kids.

bigchris · 19/03/2020 19:46

I'm surprised Boris isn't skinny as a rake!

Soubriquet · 19/03/2020 19:47

Yep. Food doesn’t taste right so I’ve not really been eating

Luckily I have high calorie drinks to supplement anyway

puds11 · 19/03/2020 19:48

I ate a packet of cookies in one go. I haven’t done that for years Sad

Nuffaluff · 19/03/2020 19:49

Feel ill and sick with nerves but stuffing my face.
I need to stop or none of my clothes will fit me.

Dawlish · 19/03/2020 19:54

Food and drink has lost its appeal for me too. I've thrown a tea and a coffee down the sink this afternoon, they tasted funny. DH is having a glass of wine and I can't bring myself to join him. Going to try and force a bit of dinner down later, only had a banana and half a sandwich today.

And I'm normally like a pig at a trough at mealtimes.
