Will it just be NHS nurses or all nurses

Everyone keeps referring to NHS staff (nurses) on the list of keyworkers. Will this include nurses working for private sector or charities who took over NHS contracts? Might seem stupid question but i wonder did anyone get mpre clarity from it than me?

How do we get requisitioned to help. I'm a nurse lecturer but have current NMC pin. No idea how I would go about working as there doesn't seem any information on this.

The keyworker list is absolutely ridiculous. They should have just kept schools open because according to that most people could be keyworkers

CustardOmlet · 20/03/2020 06:54

@waffles80 it must be an area by area thing as my school have said both parents must be key workers, but still haven’t said what a key worker is! DH and I are both specialist, non ward based RMNs, there are plans for me being placed on a physical health ward if needed but DH will stay in his area of primary care. I’ve told the schools our qualification and employers, just waiting to see.

They need to clarify with NHS admin staff as a lot of people can wfh and muddle along with their kids there like everyone else. Doctor's receptionist - fine, someone working on HR for instance should not get key worker status.

It has to be limited otherwise closing the schools is a farce as it will mess up the economy without having much impact on limiting the spread of the virus.

I am admin at the NHS. I asked if I could WFH and I was told no. Our ward has been turned into the main Coronavirus Ward at the hospital but as I'm only admin I don't get any protection. I'm still expected to be on the ward with suspected patients opening doors to ask questions.

collywobblescar · 20/03/2020 07:04

@Noconceptofnormal but what about people working for NHS payroll? That's a HR function but critical to the nhs to ensure everyone gets paid

chocolatespiders · 20/03/2020 07:05

I wondered if it should include carers.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 20/03/2020 07:15

Mental health nurses and HCA's are absolutely key workers!!

My hospital has 3 wards of 18 vulnerable patients, much as I'd love to retreat to my home and hide away, they need us now more than ever. And we will have to take admissions, peoples mental health is going to suffer massively with this crisis. We cannot stop working!

Pixxie7 · 20/03/2020 07:18

As they are trying to bring back 50,000 retired nurses I think it will be all nurse, although they be redeployed.

Pixxie7 · 20/03/2020 07:27

It says all nhs workers, not just nurses.
