Ocado orders - edit closing a day early?

Anyone else have their order for tomorrow close for editing a day early? It's a right bugger - I hadn't done my weekly shop, just the minimum to hold the slot!

This is what I saw when I tried to log in:

Access temporarily closed to Ocado.com

Like all supermarkets, we are working round the clock to keep up with high demand and make sure all of our customers get what they need at this time – especially those more vulnerable and in isolation.

As a result, we have made a decision to temporarily close access to Ocado.com so you will not be able to edit an existing order or book a new delivery for the next few days.

This temporary closure will allow us to complete essential work that will help to make sure distribution of products and delivery slots is as fair and accessible as possible for all our loyal customers.

We are fully booked for the next four days. If you have a delivery booked for Thursday or Friday, cut-off times for editing these orders have already passed, but your driver will still arrive as expected.

Customers with an existing order booked for delivery from Saturday onwards will be contacted later this week with details of how to edit their orders. We will reopen the website to all customers from Saturday.

We are very sorry to cause any inconvenience. We’re managing a simply staggering amount of traffic to our website right now and more demand for products and deliveries than we can meet. Our first priority has to be to keep our service up and running and to play our part in feeding the nation.

I'd also like to take this chance to thank our amazing drivers and warehouse staff who are working tirelessly to deliver groceries to as many people as possible in these uncertain times. Their dedication and hard work is truly amazing.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at these unprecedented and challenging times.

Melanie Smith
CEO, Ocado Retail

My order is due tomorrow morning but although I had the email a couple of days ago saying use the website instead of app (I do anyway), I'm still getting the temporary closed message.

KatherineJaneway · 21/03/2020 06:39

I went on yesterday and the closed message was still there. I have an order due next week, let's see if I receive it. No slots for Tesco's or Waitrose for the next 3 weeks.

Randomnessembraced · 21/03/2020 06:49

Please try and help the supermarkets by guess estimating a proper order from the outset - I know it is really difficult if ordering 2 weeks in advance but please try! These aren’t normal times. I know many of us have done this with orders in the past to get the slots but hopefully if we can all help the supermarkets plan their stock a bit better that will benefit us all. My last order this week wasn’t too bad - few substitutions (but good ones) and 1 missing meat item

Randomnessembraced · 21/03/2020 06:51

Supermarkets must be making so much money! I really hope they create a bonus fund for their employees - they really are at the frontline!! Good PR for them too.

winningwhilstlosing · 21/03/2020 06:59

I had a delivery this morning. The last time I was able to edit it was Wednesday. The site was down Thursday and Friday. I got an email yesterday allowing me access but only to remove items - not to add or increase. I had planned to add various other items and my husband is furious that we have no cheese which has led to quite a row. I feel blessed that we have anything at all in the present climate. I do wish I had had a chance to add some wine though. Sorry should add we are having to self isolate now and so cannot go shopping. Ocado is keeping me sane at the moment.

It's not so difficult - if you know that's what you're supposed to do - knowing what's expected of you - knowing the cut of date has changed was all we asked, missing half the food you normally order was not helpful.

I've got a Waitrose order coming today and couldn't change it yesterday. I guess it makes sense in the current situation. I must remember to check early next week.

UntamedWisteria · 21/03/2020 09:09

I got my Ocado order delivered yesterday evening. They were actually 15 minutes early.

Placed 6 days previously. I had given up on trying to edit it.

I got everything I ordered, with a few substitutions. The only one which wasn't quite right was a bottle of TCP instead of Dettol. The driver & I gave each other a cheery wave through our glass windowed front door & i waited until he had gone before bringing everything in.

They are doing a great job in exceptional circumstances.

UntamedWisteria · 21/03/2020 09:11

winningwhilstlosing DH has ordered enough wine from Majestic to see us through several months of self-isolation. Could that be an option for you?

winningwhilstlosing · 21/03/2020 09:53

Thank you untamedwisteria - I will have a look!

Housewife2010 · 21/03/2020 10:25

Our Ocado order arrived this morning. It was missing bread flour but everything else was there. When this is all over I bet we will have enough bags to return to pay for a whole order!

Delatron · 21/03/2020 10:31

I got a bottle of tcp instead of dettol!

I’d given up trying to edit it with the 2 hour queue earlier in the week. Then they closed the website down. I actually thought it wasn’t going to turn up! So very surprised when it arrived yesterday. He apologised for being 15 minutes late. Bless him.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 10:43

Op we did the same thing, just chucked things in to hold the slot.
Laughing at the moet

'' unusual habits have been reported by ocado, half their customers have stopped ordering food and instead are ordering bottles of expensive champagne.''

copperheart · 21/03/2020 10:43

The Ocado drivers are always amazing, aren't they!

Message on their website says you can only access your order 2 days in advance of it arriving. Apparently I'll be notified of when the website will be open for me.

twigletpiglet17 · 22/03/2020 07:03

We've got an order due tomorrow and I tried to edit just now and it's already been placed, so it looks like they are closing a day earlier (at least for us). Just considering myself lucky I got an order in at all at this point!

NotGenerationAlpha · 22/03/2020 07:09

Has any one got ocado reserved? I've noticed my slot in two weeks time (8/4) has failed and I can't get any slots anymore. All of april has been sold out and you can't get to May yet.

copperheart · 22/03/2020 07:42

I have Ocado reserved - my next delivery for the week after this week failed but was then rebooked by the system.

OP posts:
NotGenerationAlpha · 22/03/2020 07:58

@copperheart did you have to do anything to do the rebook? How long between the fail and the success? Do you just noticed it worked again. I’m getting really worried. Anxiety really not helping.

UntamedWisteria · 22/03/2020 09:28

I have been completely unable to get on and book a new slot now, as I don't have a regular order.

Getting quite worried.

EskSmith · 22/03/2020 09:49

I booked an order 2 weeks ago for last Friday as we were due to have visitors for the weekend logged on on Wednesday to update and remove the wine as friends were no longer visiting, no chance to an edit at all so i just put up with what I had ordered. Since then my regular Monday reserved slot has been placed (got confirmation email to tell me, obviously couldn't see on website. ) It was placed on Wednesday when the website was already down with a suggested order, on Wednesday access was promised on Saturday. When Saturday's access finally arrived my order was already closed for editing. So I have an automatically generated order arriving on Monday that I have never had chance to amend. Absolutely no communication on changed amending dates. I don't need most of this order as I had the order on Friday but can't get through to anyone to cancel it. That slot could have been used for someone in need.

copperheart · 22/03/2020 09:53

@NotGenerationAlpha I just noticed they had recorded a fail on the reserved booking for 2 April and then it looked like it has been re-booked for 2 April. I usually fill my reserved slot with the suggested weekly list. I couldn't say I'm 100% sure I have it because things seem to be changing all the time and I was more in a panic about editing my order for 26th to get proper food this week, as last week's delivery was not well planned, a few times it looked like it wasn't accepting my new list. I'm not normally an anxious person but the food situation at the moment is enough to test anyone.

viccat · 22/03/2020 10:21

I'm now going to end up spending money I didn't want to spend because I've not been given a chance to remove anything from tomorrow's order at all. Sad At the same time I'm not confident the items I do want and need are actually arriving...

Mostly annoyed about the lack of communication though! I've not shopped with Sainsbury's for years and yet I seem to have a daily update email from them. Absolutely nothing from Ocado in days and I'm a Smart Pass customer who orders weekly.
