Well done to everyone who is working in these difficult days.

HeronLanyon · 18/03/2020 05:26

snog agree. The picture/reality of my yesterday was self indulgent crap.
Need to sort self out.
Two elderly neighbours who are giving me shopping list later will help I think. Then I need to just get on.
Support all.

GratitudeGoddess · 18/03/2020 05:26

@langkaw thank you for your reply, it has slightly put my mind at rest. But the thought of all the kids that I work with not receiving free school meals and thinking of families self isolating together where there is domestic violence and abuse within the home is keeping me wide awake and worried.

Fearofawelshplanet · 18/03/2020 05:27

Yes OP im same. Work in a specialist teaching unit, so worried i have been awake at 4 most mornings. Want my teenage twins out of school too.

PhilCornwall1 · 18/03/2020 05:28

I've been awake since 3am on codeine, bloody Rheumatoid Arthritis!!!

I'm in the group that has to "social distance" for 12 weeks because I'm immunosuppressed due to the drugs I take.

It's not affected work, as I work from home anyway (as long as the company keeps going).

I'm not at all anxious over the virus, if I get it, it's unfortunate and if it kills me, well that's a bit of a bugger.

Just bloody pissed off and sick of the TV coverage. Sky News and the news online is definitely being reduced for me.

Nquartz · 18/03/2020 05:32

Didn't go to sleep until midnight, woke up at 3.30.

Constant feeling of butterflies, like that really nervous feeling before a big meeting, job interview etc.

Legit terrified

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 05:33

Haven’t slept properly for days.

CaptainBrickbeard · 18/03/2020 05:33

Morning. Today is my birthday. I’ve been awake for ages thinking about the other world in which this is all normal and I’m going out for dinner with my family and this nightmare isn’t happening. Instead we’re self isolating with coughs.

Honeybee85 · 18/03/2020 05:34

I also have trouble falling asleep. I live on another continent so I’m 8 hours ahead of my family and friends back home and the first thing I do in the morning is checking my phone, anxiously, because I’m afraid of a message with bad news about them coming in. I also have nightmares when I do sleep. I pray for their safety and burned a candle in front of my little Virgin Mary statue today to ask for their safety. It’s completely normal to not being able to sleep in these scary times.

breadwidow · 18/03/2020 05:37

Second night of COVID-19 insomnia for me. I get sleeping issues every so often but this feels worse. Wondering whether to see if I can get phone consultation with GP tomorrow and get hold of some meds to help

Nquartz · 18/03/2020 05:37

@CaptainBrickbeard happy birthday Cake

It's DDs birthday in 6 weeks, we were meant to be going to the zoo & having a sleepover, who knows what we'll do now. I'm ordering a shit ton from amazon today to get us through lock down & her presents but I don't know what to get her

langkaw · 18/03/2020 05:37

@gratitude yes. I hear you. I'm in charge of inclusion/senco and our kids are from deprived inner city. They are so much less safe in school. I'm particularly worried about our Cp/lac. Social services are going to have to be picking up the slack but they are already squeezed.

I can never sleep when I'm worried, I wish I lost my appetite instead!

I'm struggling already without my 2 mile walk to/from school, star jumps & chasing bubbles in the garden yesterday was fun but it's not the same unfortunately.

CamillaBeauchamp · 18/03/2020 05:39

I too have been waking in the middle of the night and lying there with feelings of anxiety. This feels like a film somehow only it is real

langkaw · 18/03/2020 05:41

Sorry meant to say they are safer in school not less safe!

Goatinthegarden · 18/03/2020 05:41

I normally sleep soundly, but have been wide awake for three nights in a row now.

Thinking about my mid-70s DF who is self isolating due to chemo (with my DM). Will I see him again? Will my mum cope? My siblings and their families are spread all over the country.

I’m ok financially, but worried about friends and colleagues.

I’m a teacher and it is all going downhill rapidly, lots of support staff sent home yesterday due to guidance regarding pregnancy and underlying conditions. We are a small school with a youngish teaching staff who are all in at the moment....but there’s only 7 of us to start with. I never take sick days....but of course it could be unavoidable now.

No real idea what home learning is going to look like...I’m so worried about what school closures might mean for my most vulnerable kids.

LadyPenelope68 · 18/03/2020 05:42

Yes me. Getting angrier and angrier at the lack of decision making regarding schools. People are being told to work at home, now cinemas, restaurants, Department Stores (Selfridges being one), Doctors Surgeries going into lockdown and telephone appointments only, etc, etc. Yet school staff are just expected to carry on without any thought for our well being. We're basically being used by the Government as a free babysitting service and "tough luck" if that puts you in a place of close proximity to others etc, etc. So angry!!

Letsdoanamechangeagain · 18/03/2020 05:42

Me, I've woke up every two hours tonight.

I've been awake since 4 now and just cant back to sleep. I think I might get up soon...

langkaw · 18/03/2020 05:43

I think we will adjust. At the moment we are trying to process something our brains have never had to take in before. It's new territory! I think we will eventually adjust to the new normal. It's sort of comforting to know that nearly everybody in the world is feeling exactly the same!

LadyPenelope68 · 18/03/2020 05:44

And before anyone jumps on me, yes, I know there are vulnerable students for who school is an absolute safe haven (and I'd do anything to protect them), it's the fact there appears to be so little regard for school staff in all of this.

imapenguinlover · 18/03/2020 05:45

I'm awake too, 3 year old woke up with sickness bug 😭 glad it's not corona but this is the worst thing to compromise a good immune system and make people more susceptible to corona. I need shopping, I'm on my own with 3 boys, my mum is 68. I am strangest rather calm but it's goi g to be weird

langkaw · 18/03/2020 05:48

@LadyPenelope68 no one is going to jump on you. There's such a huge lack of guidance for teachers over this. They are expecting you to just turn up every day and face an absolute shit show where none knows what's going on. You have yourself and your own family to worry about. I think school closures are pretty imminent.

langkaw · 18/03/2020 05:49

@LadyPenelope68 and sending you hugs. From a fellow teacher but with a broken leg who doesn't have to go through this.
