Just woke up to my little girl coughing and gasping for breath. Waiting for ambulance but it will be a long wait they said. So scared

Just came on to say that dd had croup for years, every winter, and the onky thing that work led was getting her out in the cold air..

She is 10 now and seems to have grown out of it, but we tried everything and actually warm air/steam made her worse... First time she had it when she was a toddler I though it was asthma as I have it, gave her an inhaler and she threw up! (didn't work, made it worse).

Oh dear, Katri, raw nerves?

Try being kind.

Helenj1977 · 18/03/2020 13:59

@zigzagbetty

All ok?? 💐

Frownette · 18/03/2020 14:07

I didn't read what Katri said but can imagine...

OP it's unfortunate you had a bad run of luck last night with a few unkind people, please don't let it deter you from posting.

Glad little one seems better.

zigzagbetty · 18/03/2020 15:00

All ok, confirmed it was croup, still no fever so doctor think no isolation needed. Sorry for not replying sooner we've had a sleepy day catching up with sleep. Some real support on here, thanks for that. At the point I posted my lg was lying on me with coughing stabilised and my oh was there as well and we were 20 mins into waiting for the paramedic.
Will use the cold air tip tonight if she has another coughing fit, always thought steam. It was reassuring to get support when we couldn't ask other people incase of infection.

Don't evr justify yourself. People are always on mn for times like that.

Really glad she's OK and it's not serious.

People don't realise how bad croup can be x

Splitsunrise · 18/03/2020 15:29

Yes cold air for croup for sure. It can be so scary
