When do you think the virus will peak in the UK?

Just that really. I’m thinking around a month from now, so mid-April. It will be such a relief when the fatalities begin to taper off.

I think the same OP but I have absolutely no data to base that off so it might be wishful thinking!

I hope you realise that it will get a lot worse before it gets better.
Particularly considering the government is being so half arsed about this.

Didn't they 2-3 months to peak? So mid June!

Start of May I think unless schools close ASAP and people take the measures recommended by government seriously.

In work we have been told peak will be 10-14 weeks so June. But I don’t know the source of that statement.

Sorry, but your OP seems so breezy about it. And mid-April is too optimistic for the measures put in place at the moment.

That comes from last week’s press briefing that Boris Johnson did with the Chief Medical Officer and Scientific Adviser.

It would have been May under the previous strategy. With the more aggressive social distancing the peak should shift to July

Can someone please explain this. If everyone starts taking massive precautions now, self-isolating and not going out, why will the peak be in 10 weeks time (when onset of symptoms after exposure average 5 days).

How the hell should I know? You need to ask an epidemiologist.

I hope it is not soon,we are getting our first cases and have run out of masks halfway through fit testing(this is testing that the masks we use fit so the the air we breath is filtered and not coming from around the edges).
If the masks don't fit the staff affected need to use respirator hoods,we have 4 respirators but not good surrounds.

They're waiting to see how a requested isolation works. From what I saw and heard today far too many people out and about with close contact taking no notice of Government advice. it'll soon be forced lockdown. When that decision is taken will determine the peak.

Because people will have to go out to food shop and buy medicines. Because every 1 person infected infects 2 more. Because you only have to look at MN threads to see how many people won't respect a lockdown. Incubation is anything up to 18 days, average between 7-14. Etc etc.
Italy's peak is due in April. UK is 2 weeks behind for contagion but more for peak because of lack thus far of effective restrictions.

First wave will peak between June and July, deaths and infections will fall and some restrictions will be tapered off, but the second wave will come in the autumn and could be worse as people battle seasonal bugs that already have their immune systems struggling, or may contract something like seasonal flu when recovering from CVD19 and find themselves hit very hard.

Get flu shots as soon as they're available, stay healthy.

This is why speculation is dangerous. My workplace, a government organisation, told us it would be mid may. But obviously no one knows

I think about mid April as well. Hopefully by mid May things will seem a little less bad.

By then, a LOT of people will have had it which will mean that a large section of society is no longer worried about getting it.
