Due to move house next week - anyone else?

I can’t see it being delayed due to corona, in Italy moves are still happening. Anyone else in the same situation?

We’re still waiting on the valuation being completed by our lender, but I’m bricking it in case the whole mortgage holiday etc for everyone else means they’re more hesitant to take on new lending.

StubbleTurnips · 17/03/2020 19:23

We’re all done in terms of exchange - just waiting on the top of the chain to complete. It’s a new build property at the top Confused

We’re FTB so luckily no chain.

I’m very nervy though- the house is perfect for us. I’ve already sent a friendly email to our solicitors checking that everything is still good to go but I’m half expecting a Corona-shaped shit on our doorstep within the next few weeks.

Hername · 17/03/2020 19:28

Not quite, we had an offer accepted on a house last Tuesday (which actually feels like a lifetime ago given the acceleration of events since then). We have a buyer for our flat, as far as I know she hasn’t pulled out. Just waiting for it to go horribly wrong now. We are two adults, a preschooler and a baby in a small flat with no garden so really hoping we can move. We are quarantined as the baby had a fever and slight cough yesterday, would be so much easier in a house with a garden.

Would be interested to hear what happens for you.

randomsabreuse · 17/03/2020 19:31

We're moving into rented in 2 weeks so any temperature and we're going to have to cancel the movers! Bit stressful! Won't be able to spot a "new" cough as we've all been coughing since before half term!

StubbleTurnips · 17/03/2020 19:41

We’re full of colds so kids are isolated at home and have been since Friday as per school policy. It’s the same cold they’ve had for a couple of weeks.
Solicitor at the bottom asked to put a coronavirus clause in the contract but was rejected up the chain.
We’ve all got to act in good faith apparently. Stressed.

How do you know moves in Italy are still going on? We're due to move in 3 weeks and I haven't found anything about that. Whatever about the legal end of things, it's the logistics of actual moving day that worry me; we're both high risk so I don't really want to be in contact with a removals crew, so we're going to have to hire a van and do it ourselves, which seems way too much given the time constraints of being in a chain.

Checkthemeaning · 17/03/2020 19:50

I'm due to complete on 27th March so moving is also imminent for me. It's following a marriage breakdown so is all a bit overwhelming at the minute. I have no reason not to move at the moment but the timing just feels absolutely awful.

StubbleTurnips · 17/03/2020 19:55

Advice on Italian websites state it’s a situation of need so house moves are still going ahead as at the end of last week it’s on self declaration via a downloadable form. The form for France seems similar too.

We’re due to move in the next week or two but I have this feeling it’ll all go horribly wrong.

We’re downsizing too so a cheaper life! Which we need right now

StubbleTurnips · 17/03/2020 20:09

Conrad snap, said to DH earlier I have a feeling of impending doom. Our removal company doesn’t seem fussed by any of this so is saying they are available and ready for the 26th.

At least you’ve exchanged! That’s the bit I’m itching for.

Ahhhhhhh i want to move. The anticipation is driving me crazy! More and more enquiries just keep popping up

Conrad79 · 18/03/2020 22:14

Good luck! StubbleTurnips really hope it works out for you. Let us know when you’ve completed.

I want to start packing but I’m afraid to!

GirlCalledJames · 18/03/2020 22:21

Didyeaye · 20/03/2020 20:10

I moved today! Soooooo thankful

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 21/03/2020 16:16

I have piles of flat packed boxes ready but I'm not willing to start packing till we exchange. I thought moving 4 days before christmas last time way tense but this is another kettle of fish entirely.

Conrad79 · 21/03/2020 16:41

We still haven’t exchanged because there’s suddenly more enquires that cropped us.

Super short chain - both us & our buyer are so desperate to move we don’t give a monkeys about the additional enquires. But we have to suck it up & wait Sad

Conrad79 · 21/03/2020 16:42

One them was asking if our house had ever suffered from flooding. We live at the top of a very steep hill 🤣 this one had us & our buyer giggling!

OpposableThumbs2 · 21/03/2020 18:05

We completed on Thursday. Moving out of rented so have an overlap. Removals booked for Monday so fingers crossed🤞

It is a total nightmare though as I had run down all my food stocks and now struggling to get things. Also got DCs underfoot when they would ordinarily have been at school and grandparents.
