I can’t believe I’m writing this but advice needed please.
I live in a very small town and have today heard something very disturbing. A local hairdresser and her children have been in regular close contact with an ill family member who has actually tested positive. I know this woman personally and she really doesn’t care, she’s just carrying on as normal. Her children are in several extra curricular clubs mixing with people from surrounding towns/villages and are still going to school. She’s also frequent pub user (different pubs) and has said (amongst other idiotic things) that the whole thing’s a load of rubbish. She takes her kids to the pub too.
Most disturbing of all though, is that she’s a very, very busy hairdresser who deals mostly with the elderly. She’s her own boss so complaining isn’t an option. Her oldest ds was actually off school today with a cough and I personally witnessed him going in to her salon as well as a local shop. I presume he was in there all day but I don’t know this for a fact.
I’m not exaggerating when I say her clients are mostly elderly, I’d say it’s about 80%.
What on earth do I do with this knowledge? Bury my head and ignore?

Maybe just focus on being perfect yourselves and not worry so much about what you think others should be doing. She isnt showing symptoms, so not breaking the rules, people make a choice to go to her - or not and she needs to earn a living?

There is a gas engineer whos daughter has corona and hes fitting a boiler tomorrow.

He has a mortgage to pay so apparently he cant afford to be off.

I would be livid if that was my boiler he is fitting tomorrow

You’re doing the right thing op. I’m self isolating since this morning. I saw my elderly friend in the open air yesterday, stayed at least a meter away from him as a precaution having what I thought was the end of a light cold and a bit of a sore throat. I coughed a few times in the afternoon and couldn’t have predicted yesterday how I could possibly be feeling so rubbish today. I am so worried I’ve passed what I think could be covid. I don’t know how this stupid woman can live with herself.

I could’ve said more but wouldn’t want to be accused of being a troll

@bmbonanza
Are you taking the piss? Do you turn on the television? She has to self isolate for 14 days as her son and family member, who she lives with is ill. Her son moreover is likely to have covid seeing as another family member has it.

I’ve asked for this post to be deleted now. To reiterate, I am going to report her and to those concerned, her bills won’t go unpaid.
Thank you and that is all.

I can't believe some of the replies on here. So, so selfish. Yes she is doing something wrong for those arguing the toss fgs.
I'd report my concerns op.

Everyone needs to stop passing the buck to the Governmemt, schools or business.

If you are worried then you stay home, don't send the children to school, go to work, pub, hair dressers or any where else.

Equally what others chose to do is their business, they know the risks as do we all.
No one knows who has it and hasn't had it.
If elderly people wish to follow the advice, same as everyone else or not that is their choice.

PeterWeg · 17/03/2020 19:15

All of her elderly customers will get extremely sick and 10-20% will die, depending on their age. Not good for her income I would have thought.

RoomR0613 · 17/03/2020 19:21

Ive heard similar regarding a hairdresser in my small town.

Does the salon begin with a D?

Astressie · 17/03/2020 20:13

How is she following current guidelines. Anyone in family with symptoms self-isolation for whole family for 14 days. It is very clear. Contact the child's school?

Ilovemypantry · 17/03/2020 21:26

@Mummyoflittledragon
I’m so sorry you are poorly. I wish you better very soon, take care of yourself 💐

Inkpaperstars · 17/03/2020 21:42

She is not following guidelines because she has had contact with a known case. She should be isolating and she should be tested.

At this point, she has probably already caused the deaths of many people, not to mention those they will in turn infect, or those with other medical needs who won't be able to access the beds these patients will take up. I honestly view her as a murderer. I think contact with a known case then continuing to work with the elderly could genuinely be regarded legally as manslaughter.

I would call everyone, public health, the police...
I would also put notices up around town advising people of this. Put it online in any local forums. Spray paint it on the salon window.

I hope she gets what she deserves, and before she has time to waste a hospital space.

I may sound unhinged and I probably am, but I am sick of the ignorant and arrogant causing the deaths of innocent people.

Inkpaperstars · 17/03/2020 21:44

Just seen the how will she pay her bills post!

Who gives a toss about her bills, are they more important that the lives and welfare of countless people?

I despair.

Thank you for your well wishes. I’m not too bad, thanks. Can’t stand up for any time or walk anywhere but that’s often not new in my life tbh. Just hoping it doesn’t worsen. Smile My friend is pretty poorly unfortunately though.
