I know it's not the end of the world and I completely understand the need to do it, but just wondering what you have had to cancel so far?

I've had the following
All baby groups for my last 2 weeks of maternity leave.

Fitness classes and weight watchers

My sons birthday party

Step-daughters school residential

Easter holiday and possibly half term holiday

Our anniversary weekend away.

We are having to be very careful as my brother is in the high risk category.

Myself and DP Are looking at how we can work from home. Obviously me when I go back.

Daughter and step-daughters school is partly closed.

Holiday abroad in May.
Gigs

Waxonwaxoff0 · 17/03/2020 16:11

Mother's Day plans restaurant booking.

Beavers has closed for the foreseeable future.

An evening with friends on Friday.

I've got no other plans until April 5th when I am supposed to go to another friend's birthday meal, doubtful it will happen but I am taking each day as it comes.

Also supposed to be going to Butlins in the Easter hols. We won't be going but I've not cancelled as I'm waiting for them to officially close so I can get a refund.

Mumma1984 · 17/03/2020 16:11

My wedding in Greece 😢

MorningNinja · 17/03/2020 16:14

My 'big birthday' weekend away. Inc meals/drinks with friends and family.

Possibly looking at;

2 weddings in May

A weekend in the city to watch Les Miserables. This was my Christmas present and I've waited years to see it.

A much needed week Island hopping in Greece.

This isn't a moan...i realise it needs to be done.

HoldMyLobster · 17/03/2020 16:14

Everything.

School closed
DD1's college closed
Exams cancelled for DD1
SATs cancelled for DD2
Suspect DD2's AP exams will end up cancelled
Every activity my kids are involved in is cancelled - choir, plays, sports
Work conferences cancelled
Doctor's appointments all cancelled as non-essential
Dentist cancelled
Not going on any of the holiday's I'd planned
All college tours for DD2 cancelled
Not going out anywhere for meals or anything social

I can't think of anything in my life that hasn't been cancelled other than work, and remote learning for my kids.

Must be a pandemic or something.

HoldMyLobster · 17/03/2020 16:15

OTOH our town has started a singalong. At 6.45 every evening, everyone who wants to goes out into their garden and sings the same song.

nancy75 · 17/03/2020 16:15

SisterVanHelsing · 17/03/2020 16:16

ellanwood · 17/03/2020 16:16

two concerts - one in which DS was singing and one DH was singing.
two theatre trips
silver wedding weekend away
DS sports fixtures
my usual yoga class and theatre group
visit to my elderly, frail and high-risk-group parents who live 200 miles away :(
some work meetings (self employed so that's income loss.)
Waiting to hear that a big job is likely to be shelved which is one I rely on for core income each year but is highly unlikely to happen as it involves international clients in a series of face to face meetings.

ellanwood · 17/03/2020 16:16

@nancy75 - so sorry to hear that

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/03/2020 16:17

All Scouting activities suspended... For us that's weekly meetings, Cub camp next week, International Scout Camp in summer, most likely the big County Cub Camp in June.

Daughter's birthday party.

Ski lessons

Haven't booked All-stars/Dynamos cricket

Army Navy Rugby (aka the biggest forces reunion annually)

DH has music festival tickets

Only thing still occuring is Swimming lessons... For now.

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 17/03/2020 16:19

delilahbucket · 17/03/2020 16:23

Gig
Hen do x 2 (day and evening)
Dp's stag do
Ds's visit to his dad
Choir practice
Swimming
Ds's spring concert
Awaiting cancellation of a dental hospital appointment
Worst of all, our wedding is looking likely to be postponed for a year ☹️

timeforawine · 17/03/2020 16:24

Nothing yet, but i am waiting for the May holiday to be cancelled, inevitable that it will :-(

TrophyCat · 17/03/2020 16:25

Just got an email that the local theatre is closing till end of April - so they will refund tickets to the comedy show we've got booked for this weekend.

A holiday to Italy in the Easter holidays

Our godson's birthday party

??? A camping trip in May ??? Might not go ahead.

We're supposed to be going to a couple of live music concerts in June - haven't heard anything about that yet but it's looking questionable

We're supposed to go to America for the summer holiday - luckily hadn't booked yet (was going to book this month) - who knows which airlines will still be in business...

Uglycry · 17/03/2020 16:26

My brother in laws funeral (burial) may have to be postponed on Thursday - we will have a definite answer whether we can go ahead in 12 hours

neversleepagain · 17/03/2020 16:27

Trip to London for my birthday cancelled
Trip abroad to visit my mother (who I haven't seen in over a year) cancelled
Kids football club closed
Kids basketball club closed

OH's big work project

And looking very likely I'll have to cancel our trip to the UK

IrisAtwood · 17/03/2020 16:30

My urgent heart surgery has been delayed. No one knows how long for, but if I become critical they will operate.

I have also had to cancel most of my life as I am in social isolation due to my heart problems.

Atalune · 17/03/2020 16:39

holdmylobster

That’s so lovely

EmmaStone · 17/03/2020 16:41

I'm so sorry for those who are losing their incomes, and for those having to postpone / cancel enormous life events.

We've 'lost'

  • a school language trip for DD
  • 2 weeks in the US over Easter
  • a couple of European weekend breaks

I'm still trying to understand what the next few weeks hold - will I still be able to go to yoga (from my studio - they've reduced capacity numbers, are bringing in additional cleaning procedures, and also doing online classes)? 1-1 sessions with PT at his private gym? Kids' sports sessions have now been closed (following reassurances yesterday that they'd stay open, but of course advice has since moved on).

I'm going to start working from home, I think, but am concerned for the future of my company, and am preparing myself that I may be asked to take a period of unpaid leave, not sure how we will afford it (hopefully by refunds from trips not being able to go ahead!!).

Every hour brings new concerns. I'm not too concerned about the virus for me or my family, I don't think we'll be badly affected illness wise (and I appreciate what a fortunate position that leaves us in), but I am concerned about what will be left for all of us in the world when it does eventually blow over.

MrsDrFC · 17/03/2020 16:43

My entire business, I'm in tourism and every single one of my bookings has been cancelled so no guests =no income .not sure what to do really

Fuckinellitsme · 17/03/2020 16:48

I'm in the vulnerable group (chronic illness) so I'm looking at 12 weeks indoors.

A gig I've been looking forward to for months in early June (Pet Shop Boys) is a no-no, but I won't be able to get a refund as (so far) it's not been cancelled. Also several other smaller gigs I've bought tickets for.

Easter celebrations - we usually have a big family get together and a week of outings

Mother's Day

DD's birthday celebrations

Various mini breaks we had planned

And DD lost her job last night because of CV. She was saving to do her master's and only started the job two weeks ago. No hope of getting a job for several months, so her master's will be put off indefinitely.
