To ask if you will still pay your cleaner.......

.....if you cancel due to self isolation or through fear. I am a self employed cleaner, and so far I've had two suspension of services from clients. No offer to even part pay for my lost income. Both have no symptoms in household, just don't want to let me in their home.

I will continue to work as normal, as until such times as I can't.

Would like to here from others if you have cancelled or are continuing on with a cleaners service.

I will pay my cleaner and window cleaner as long as I'm being paid.
Whether they come or not.

EmrysAtticus · 17/03/2020 18:56

Yes we will continue to pay but fortunately our pay is unaffected so it makes no difference

LajesticVantrashell · 17/03/2020 19:00

I messaged mine this morning to say as long as DH and I are being paid, we will continue to pay her. Same with my nail lady. I really want to look at other ways of supporting the local community and especially people who are struggling to afford to eat in light of food bank closures.

Matildathehun77 · 17/03/2020 19:00

Yes, I will get my salary throughout this. I'm well aware of how lucky that makes me and I'll try to do my part in keeping money going into the economy.

Toomuch2019 · 17/03/2020 19:01

Yes will continue to pay. We have a regular income and feel we have a responsibility to pass on that good fortune to those we rely on to support us being able to work for that income in the normal times.

Darbs76 · 17/03/2020 19:01

I’m continuing to pay my dog walker, whether she’s fit to walk him or not as I’m still being paid. We really need to support local business owners now

Daffodil101 · 17/03/2020 19:02

Yes I’ll pay mine

Noname9 · 17/03/2020 19:02

While I get paid, they get paid. When my pay stops, I will have to stop paying. Simples

PatchworkElmer · 17/03/2020 19:04

Yes, I will pay as long as I’m being paid.

AnneElliott · 17/03/2020 19:17

Yes I would as I'll still get paid. Cleaner came today but if she couldn't I would still pay.

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 17/03/2020 19:18

We are self isolating so I cancelled her and paid for this week. She’s due back in two weeks time and i’m not sure what to do, I think my husbands job is going to be cut to half time - so less pay and he is the earner. Ideally I’d keep her on, I don’t want her to struggle but at the same time we will need to look at our goings.

BeNiceToYourSister · 17/03/2020 19:20

I don’t have a cleaner, but just wanted to say it’s heartening that so many posters here are doing the decent thing Flowers

murasaki · 17/03/2020 19:29

MIne hasn't said that she isn't coming, butI'm now working from home, so will have to get out of her way. Coffee shops aren't an answer, so luckily it looks nice enough to park myself in the garden for a bit. I hope.

I think I should have my microsoft teams meetings done before she gets here. I'd pay anyway though.

tootsey · 17/03/2020 20:36

Thanks everyone for your comments. One of the clients gave 5 days notice, so fair enough, but will not be paying. The other gave me less than 24 hrs, a couple who both work at home, they are well off (very).

I am not sure what to do now. No others have cancelled at this point, but as I am one of those who has underlying health conditions, i'm sitting here thinking will I cancel all work for the foreseeable or what.

REdReDRE · 17/03/2020 23:25

I've text mine today to say we will continue to pay her if she can't work or we are isolating (but I do want her to continue at present until situation changes for her, us, or government advice). If I lose my job I won't be able to pay any more.

Dollywilde · 17/03/2020 23:32

We’ve said as long as we’re being paid she will be.

OchonAgusOchonO · 17/03/2020 23:46

I won't be paying my cleaner but that is because she cancelled on me. I texted her to ask whether she is continuing to work and to discuss how we would work it in terms of safety precautions and she told me she is not working for the foreseeable future. I was a bit annoyed that she hadn't contacted me as she is due tomorrow. If I had cancelled her, I would have paid.

79andnotout · 17/03/2020 23:56

We're paying ours. I know she will need the cash and we will be ok. She cleans for a few of my friends and I'm sure they will pay her too.
