How is this going to work?

If so many people have no idea about the guidelines?

I've been off from work with a cough and was talking to my mum who is in her early 50s saying that my headache has gone and her response was "oh that's good you can go back tomorrow" when I told her I can't go back for a minimum of 7 days but now 14 as the kids have to stay off she said I was being ridiculous. She had heard nothing about the news from Friday or the update. She still thinks I'm being stupid as it's clearly just a cold and I am putting my job on the line as companies don't like people who skive (I haven't had a day off until now in the 3 years I've worked there).

I've also seen lots of people saying it's all being blown out of proportion and that they aren't listening to it. So basically what hope is there that the public will actually follow any of tbis?

It won't work. People are behaving exactly as they did in Italy, Spain, France etc, incapable of following the advice given. You just need to look at the thread on here wondering if swimming lessons or meeting friends for coffee is essential. So it has to be enforced. Total lockdown is on its way. Financial measures will be passed as they have elsewhere but of course it's going to be very hard for a lot of people.

The .mortgage companies are offering payment holidays and to be honest , their staff are going to be just as affected. I can't see people being thrown out of their houses while this is going on.

That's great for home owners. Doesnt help renters very much though!
